        No kidding.
But the road looks to be a thin two-lane road, and heads into the Rocky mountains...

The thing about the windy road is a bit of a joke.

          You're driving an 18-wheeler.

Your choices are 1) Detour through BC on a two-lane road through the Rocky Mountains (remember Canadian weather)
          or
          2) Drive on a major highway through prairie in Alberta.

          Which do you choose?

          • Two lane is correct.

How many lanes is the Alberta route in from Grande Prairie? I honestly don't know.

            • Any Canadian with more than 2 rocks to shake in his or her head does not look forward to crossing the Rockies in the winter. It is potentially very dangerous.

They especially do not relish driving North through them instead of taking the tried and true, yet still dangerous paths from East to West or the reverse.

To suppose that driving North from Vancouver in January or February would be as safe, or as fast, as going through Edmonton would be the height of idiocy.

From where? If I'm coming from the east then I'll go through Alberta simply because its between me and the Yukon.

If I'm coming from the west coast, then I'll cross at Abbotsford, go along the One and up the Coq. then jump over to the 97 to Cache Creek and follow it up all way.

Most of the 97 is in a valley, IIRC.

Man, you Alberta boys get scared off easily by a bit of mountain driving.

The roads from Alta to BC that go through the Rockies are a breeze. It's just like the T-C from Golden to Vancouver.

You want hard stuff, try the southern route along the five, particularly when you get stuck behind trucks.

No. Actually, this is people from BC. Care to shop your biggotry somewhere else?

I can't tell if you're trolling or if you're really out there these days.

You lived out here once, haven't you? Don't you remember all the news reports in the winter about deaths, how the roads are closed a lot, that kind of thing?

Once again, you're not making sense.

So are you saying that truckers from the east would not want to go through Alberta?

Because I said that if I was coming from the east then I would go through Alberta.

Are you suggesting that going through Alberta will increase a truck driver's risk of jack-knifing?

You're seeing demons where they don't exist.

You and Asher are both boys from Alberta. You're both scared of mountain driving. There ain't no bigotry there.

As for going through the Rockies on the T-C, almost all of it is extremely sage, except for the last five miles before Golden.

Sorry, Tingkai, this has to be said:

You have to be a complete moron not to be worried about mountain driving in the winter through the Canadian Rockies.

                              Total and complete moron.

You do know that driving anywhere in Canada during the winter can be dangerous. You want a bad area, try the 401 between Sarnia and London, or the 400 outside of Barrie.

Anyone who has done a lot of winter driving in all different parts of Canada will tell you that driving through the Rockies isn't that bad compared to some other parts.

And when the roads are not dangerous when they're closed, cause you can't drive on a closed road.
