oh, i agree with ya. hell, people who serve in any form for this country and do their job well and without corruption are heros, no matter if its coast or national, air force, navy, army or marines.

its funny though that he wants an apology from liberals for calling quayle a draft dodger when that was most likely in direct repsonse to every draft dodging attack by conservative on anyone with a liberal bone in their body. lets face it, conservative and liberal alike probably dodged the draft out of fear for their life, and not out of their political views.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, if you get a chance to see some real combat, don't try to be a hero.. just duck and play it safe and cool. I'd like to hear some combat stories later if you get some, but they're no use to us if you dont return!

Actually the Vietnam era was before the time the Army started deploying ANG and Reserve forces right alongside regular army forces, so Guard service pretty much DID guarantee an escape from Vietnam. Personally, I think Quayle made a smart move, but it would have been better if he refused service altogether.
