I'm pretty sure that far more Americans died in accidents (namely helicopter crashes) than in actual combat. Not certain, though.

It makes sense, but i'm looking for an official number with a list of names and circumstances of death.

That will probably take a while to come out in full.
Just as the US attrocities in Afganistan will take a while. (cluster bombs used to clear forests thrown on people etc) Just think Vietnam, it sure took a while for the info to get out.

Hundrends of Afganis being shot inside trucks and left to die of suffocation while the US army was just looking is just the tip of the iceberg.

The failure of Bush to stick to the rebuilding in Afganistan is known because it simply can't be hidden so easily.

I'd say amuzingly enough (but I can't since so many people died) that most American casualties came from.... friendly fire... (since most brave fighting was just 10.000 feet bombing)

Can't take those speed pills for ever. Theater of the macabre really.

I'm certain that several of those reported "accidents" were actually combat deaths, too.

More Canadians were killed by Americans then by Taliban. 3 died when bombed by an errant American pilot while executing training manuevers.

In an article from February 7, it was 20 combat and 29 non-combat deaths. Some of the non-combat were pretty far removed from Afghanistan but I guess they were considered supporting forces.

According to the following, as of Feb 4, '03, there were 15 deaths from hostile fire, 48 non-hostile. Total = 63. Includes one CIA officer.

The White House says 52 dead in whole operation (not just Afghanistan) plus one CIA officer through October 7, '02.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Here's a list of 47 as of ~ Jan. 30, '03. Includes circumstances of death, when available.
