I dont like the Catholic (also Shiate muslim) heirarchy... the protestant (and interestingly enough Sunni muslim) idea of a community of believers who are all basically priests is better

yes, there are big differences. ELCA, Evangelical Luthern Church of America, is much more liberal than the Missouri and Wisconsin Synod of Luthernism. And this is just in luthernism. Take into account that you have pentacostals(make christianity look like a wacky extravaganza), methodists, baptists, mennonites and Catholics, there are gonna be diffrences in superflous ideology and church structure.

i personally think that catholics are ass backwards because of the way the church is organized.also it seems very impersonal, i went to a catholic funeral and man, it was a ****ing "god this" and "god that" festival. he talked about the deceased for like 10 minutes throughout the entire hour. it made him seem even more dead.

and at the other end of the spectrum i think that the way that many baptists and pentacostals spread the good word trivializes it. I dont need to have jesus rubbed in my face constantly. i also disagree with the emphasis that many of them place on revelations. john of patmos was a kook, and revelations doesnt serve any good purpose as to help our fellow man.

All denominations, by definition, will have differences either doctrinally or traditionally. However, I have a hard time pronouncing some 'traditions' as better than others.

I will say that doctrinally, my church is the best, otherwise I would have joined another church. Traditionally, there should be a variety, representing what people feel most confortable with.

All Christians should get a feel for other churches as well as your own, because it becomes more clear what is the essential part of Christian faith, what all the Christian churches have in common.

Should there be differences between Christian churches in doctrine? Most of these differences, particularly between Catholics and Protestants have a longstanding history. In a perfect world, there would be no essential differences, but this world is not quite right.

Look at the mess the Anglican and the United churches are in because of lax church organisation. While the Catholic church may seem backwards, this discipline helps keep the congregations worldwide on the straight and narrow.

unfortunately, the catholic heirarchy also stifles reform.

as evidenced by the boston archdiocese. the "voice of the faithful" organization, a laypeople's group, had a very difficult time trying to even get an audience.

on the whole, though, i have no beef with the catholic church. i was baptized and raised in it, after all.

I'm a life-long Methodist.
For the most part, Methodists are lenient in thought; much moreso than Baptists.
They're not drunkards like Catholics though.
