It's true! He also threatened them with no EU membership for supporting the rest of the EU in supporting the US.

This guy makes Bush look like a soft speaker!
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

This puts to shame any of the French jokes we've had here so far.

DanS that thing you said yesterday about the France-German power play is making MORE AND MORE sense day by day.

Chirac is just pissed because he wants to have followers and the eastern allies picked the US over HIM.

      Brilliant call DanS

Chirac is now almost on par with Rumsfeld. A bit more, and we'll have the most cretin leader in the diplo waltz !

Chirac is right. These not-yet-members have no business to speak for the EU. If they piss us off, we veto them, and the idiots will never be members.

More proof Chirac is merely out to try to increase France's influence at the expense of the US.

I agree with Comrade, if these nations want to pursue a policy that is detrimental to both the EU and the world, they should be not be allowed membership.

Of course they have, DD. To know what it is, just keep an eye on the releases of the French Foreign Ministry.

There exists. It's only in its infantile phase

Look at the economic side. That was too in its infancy some time ago. And now, whooop the euro is here and is stronger than the dollar

                              Monkspider :
Being a vassal of the US isn't necessarily detrimental to the EU. It has been good for the EU in the past 50 years. Whether it is good or bad now is in question, but there is no evidence towards one way or another.
