IMHO, Xbox does suck, compared to PS2. Gamecube, though not having as many features, also has great games, such as Metroid and Zelda.

I own a PS2 and an X-Box and they're both prety damn good. I've been playing GTA: Vice City and Halo - both great games.

Consoles are great for playing with buddies (not internet buddies, but real life people you know). The only game we played in my dorm on the PC (wth each other) was AoK otherwise we played Soul Calibur, Goldeneye, Halo, Madden, NCAA Football and DDR (well we only played the last one once, but these guys had the pad and everything).

Personally, I like consoles for sport games, single-player FPS (I learned with consoles first and my left hand sucks at tons of commands) and RPGs. Basically anything that requires lots of thinking or stats is better for PC.

I am getting the PS2 Version btw. I just purchased PS2 for $60 yesterday, so that I can get a mod chip to play import version as soon as it comes out on march 27th. This is gonna be 1999 all over again when I spent nearly $600 on import DC with import SC I... but this time I got PS2 Cheap hee hee

I have been an avid Nintendo fan since before I was born. I love all the Mario games, with Mario 64 and Mario 3 (for NES) being my favorite. Every single iteration of Metroid has been fabulous as well, and I had great fun with the Zeldas.

On the PC, the games that excel and which I like are slightly different. TBSes and RPGs are, for me, best on PC. FPSes are also largely unrivalled (although console games have a very slight edge in multiplayer accessibility). Finally, I like to play LucasArts' space flight sims, which I feel have never been equalled on any console ever.

I have played Sony and Sega consoles before but never owned them. I trust Nintendo consoles simply through force of habit and my own experience, but it doesn't mean that I slavishly follow one brand name. Oftentimes me and my friends will strategically buy systems so there's little overlap and we can all borrow each others' stuff to enjoy.

I think a lot of people put too much emphasis on image rather than gameplay. It's not "cool" to play with Legos and Speak'n'Spells and Construx and chess, but all these games were invaluable to me during my youth. Without them, I wouldn't be the person I am today. (And my spelling and 3D perception probably would have suffered too.)

I play a game because I enjoy it, not because it's "cool". If I find myself disliking a game just because somebody else says it isn't fashionable, I'm probably missing the whole point of gaming.

I would almost guarantee that it isn't possible. Any sort of lag time makes a fighting game unplayable and even broadband isn't lag-free yet...

It's possible to do fighting games.

Capcom vs SNK 2 EO is online with Xbox Live and you seriously can't tell that you're playing online, aside from the guy talking to you. There's no lag.

I'd doubt SC2 has Xbox Live support because it takes a lot of effort to add in multiplayer for a game, and the lead development platform is the Gamecube which essentially has no multiplayer component to speak of.

It's very unlikely that there will be any extra features on the PS2 and Xbox versions not on the Gamecube version. And it's very unlikely for them to put multiplayer in the Gamecube version...

Getting online with Capcom VS SNK 2 EO is incredibly easy. After logging in, you get the standard list of options found in other Live games, including quick match, optimatch, friends, and rankings. What's really cool about the rankings is that you can see rankings for the past week or month, as well as total and friends rankings. We'd like to see this sort of rankings list implemented in more Live games (wink, wink). Another great option is the ability to play anyone around the world, not just the US. Everyone knows that there are some truly magnificent Street Fighter players around the world, especially Japan, and now we'll have the chance to see how we stack up against them.

So the options are there, but how is the gameplay? Well, after connecting to another player the game will display a message about your connection. We consistently received a "good" connection, and while we were playing there was no lag at all. Not even a little. We may as well have been playing against a CPU opponent the lag was so unnoticeable. Whether this is a good representation of what real-world games will be like is unknown (we were on a developer network, not Xbox Live), but if it is, then the future of online fighting games is exceptionally bright.

It won't make a difference about being on a developer network, since a 2-player fighting game is obviously peer-to-peer after Xbox Live acts as the matchmaker.
