    American cheese is plastic.

Give me a sharp cheddar, veiny blue or creamy brie any day over American.

The only good thing about american cheese is the beautiful way it melts on hot food.

I like sharp cheddar; baked brie is yummy, too.

        And mozzarella.

And feta (mmm... with some olives).

        Ooh, and swiss. And provolone.

Alright, I like lots of cheese.

But then again - I'm willing to believe that all cheese is good.

                American is the exception

I love cheese- and the modified plastic bubble wrap that passes for cheese in America is sad. Your most famous cheese? Monterey Jack, itself a poor imitation of mozzarella. Cheese is about taste, not the way it melts on pizza or toast- think manchego, or pecorino, Jarlsberg, Roquefort, Blue Vinny, Stilton, Jindi Brie- American cheese isn't fit to approach their rind.

I hate cheese. Probably because I hate milk. But Montery Jack cheese is good(for a cheese).

If I choose to eat cheese, I try to avoid American, but not because it sucks the most. I'd rather try new things. I dont understand the reason for unnecessary hatred toward american. Is it becaue its too common here?

No, it's because, as I said, it tastes like and has the consistency of plastic.
