It was something like -40 celsius or -50 with windfactor on one of my trips to B.C. (Looking at the number, I think I may be exagerating.... but remembering what it was like, I think I may be underestimating.)

I've also been to florida during a heatwave, it was probably something like 40 degrees there. (or at least high 30s)

        LOL!

that's just because it's not financially feasable to get dutch voice - overs - - whereas France with 50 million or sopeople can do it
Maybe, but well, there are 15 million dutch ppl huh (or was it 18 million, i don't know), that and the 5,9 million Flemish... should make it worthwhile... nah it's just something we don't like...

I thought both Flemish and Walloons had to learn eachothers language obligatory?
I guess not. Most of the Walloon top politicians can't even speak dutch (ministers and all!!). There are of course a few who do, and another minister that does an effort to learn, but in general, it's quite poor... Our kings and princes speak bad dutch as well, they can only speak a bit if someone else has prepared their speech, which is pretty pathetic.

But again: Those are bad qualities of the Walloons, but I'm sure we have bad things on us too... I'm just being honest

Btw hottest: must be in Death Valley/Egypt.. surely about 40 degrees
coldest, probably a snow storm in january in the French alps at night (we were kinda uh.. going hors-piste, lol) that was cold, maybe 20 degrees below, maybe a bit less, but seriously cold though, when you're on the outside

          +40C something at Washington DC.
-30 C + something some years ago in Lappland. Real temperature was lot worse, since it was windy as hell.

            Maybe

The bad thing about the Flemish is that you are too nationalistic (or should I say localistic!) with that language/Flemish thingy
That's the impression you give to non Belgians at least.

But anyway I never really got to see that movie (what's its name?) where it explains the whole language imperialistic thingy of the mechants Walloons so I can't say

BTW where from Belgium are you from Trajanus?
If not Brussels!, I guess: Antwerp?

              That I can remember :
              Coldest - ~10C in Prague.
Hottest - ~47 in Eilat this summer, with 100% humidity.

In Russia is was many times below zero(duh), but I was maximum 5 years old so I dont remember the feeling.

Hottest 49C in Nevada (surprising given the meaning). Never go to Vegas in July/August.

Coldest, erm not sure, probably during some cold snap when I was living in Connecticut, however cold that gets.

Sagacious Dolphin, I exacly was in Vegas in July . You shouldn't go to Russia, especially Siberia, in winter also BTW. In Yakutia temperature falls to -55 constantly and sometimes in certain place s to -70... And people are living there, cities has 100'000 - 300'000 citizens...

Hottest: 45C (Desert in California, at least it was really dry and not humid)
Coldest: -15C (20,000 Feet at a mountain in Ecuador, snow prevalent)

                      Hmm.

Coldest would be below -60 F (below -50 C). Comes from having live in the mountains at over a mile above sea level.

                      Hottest would be above 110 F (about 44 C).

Coldest was around -80C while living in Wasaga Beach Ontario one winter. Thats so cold there was a warning not to go outside. The coldest I actually worked in was about -50C (plastic bags break like glass) in the interior of British Columbia. Hottest was aboout 44C here in sunny Alabama.

Probably you meant -80F, because I doubt there could be -80C in Ontario (Nunavut, Northwest Territories probably but even there that shouldn't be ussual thing)

I doubt he meant -80F or -80C, that isn't possible in the Arctic area, let alone in Canada.

Go to the Vostok Station in Antarctica and the coldest temperature ever was -89.6C.

BTW where from Belgium are you from Trajanus?
Yeah i come from the province of Antwerp.. Actually on the border between Antwerp and Brabant, near the city Mechelen.

I'm not nationalistic at all (god that's the last thing i'll ever be), there are simply things that are annoying for us (it's always us that have to adapt to the Walloons because they don't speak dutch enough), nothing more.

Problem is that just 50 years ago, we were still a bit oppressed by the Walloons (higher education was French only etc), but now that the tide had turned so quickly, and the Flemish became rich, and the Steel, and Coal industry of Wallonia faded, with the mines closing etc, many Flemish people want revenge and want the Walloons out, a thing i absolutely don't want.

Het Vlaams Blok, our extreme right party, that wants independence of Flanders, is already the third largest party in Flanders... pretty sad, because other than that they are racist, and a whole bunch of other things... I compare them a bit to Sharon's policy of political idiocy and wrecking your own country by trying to remove fellow citizens from your country.

But: When the Walloons ruled Belgium, life wasn't fair for the Flemish, and that's a fact , it's all in the books!

My wife tells me that was the temp with wind chill. I couldnt find an exact temp but this is the closest from Toronto in the same year.

1981 -31.3C in Toronto, Toronto's lowest temperature on record.

Toronto is a lot warmer than Wasaga Beach (which is on Georgian Bay). Just a little way north around the bay are towns that claim to be the coldest places in Canada.

During winter, Wasaga Beach is blasted by gale force winds blowing off the bay and 1981 was a very cold year. I would guess then that the air temp was -50C and -80 with wind chill. The coldest wind chill temp ever recorded in Canada is below -90.
