Come on, we live in peaceful, prosperous times. Never have we known so much and enjoyed such freedom.

      Live it up a little!

alcohol exists to alter one's consiousness.

i, for one, think it is for people who are weak, who cannot take the world for what it is.

but then again, i'm exposed to alcoholics, not social drinkers. my opinion is definately biased.

but looking at the social drinking, it seems to do the same thing in my eyes. people altering their consiousness to sleep with people they wouldn't think about otherwise

We need a smilie with a fist rasied in the air ala Eldridge Cleaver.

So you also agree that sex is merely for reproduction.

It's a drug. Some people need drugs to feel good.

Social drinking is fun. I could go without alcohol and still have fun, but theres no real point.
                Nice alcohol.

I can accept reality, and am fine in social situations...so I've never really 'needed' it to escape or to become more sociable. If I have problems I know they'll be waiting for me after I come off the buzz.

I just drink to relax a little. I'm a bit high strung sometimes. Obviously I don't rely on it to relax me. I don't really need it either. It's not like I work a stressful job. My job is easy.

I haven't got drunk since New Years eve 1997/98

                      What's the point of chocolate?

There's nothing wrong with alcohol, as long as you drink in moderation.

and what's the point of jerking off? You can't reproduce that way. It should not be done. Sex is only for reproduction. Thusly oral sex should not be desired either.

I really wish you would debate that 80% of yours. I lived on the streets for a few years, and I volunteer at a soup kitchen now. I can tell you fron personal experience that most people do not 'choose' to live in poverty. Why would anyone wake up one day and say "I have always wanted to know what it would be like not to know where my next meal will come from, or what it feels like to have the cops throw me out of my squat at 3 in the morning."

Please tell me you don't really believe that

LOL I didn't comment on that before.

But living on the streets isn't a good way to get free food . I would think being a restaurant critic is a better way to get free food.

In any case there is a little disease called alcoholism in case no one has heard of it. And from some of the posts here, obviously no one has. People don't choose to become alcoholics, they just do.

Alcohol's bad points far out weigh its good points. Any form of pleasure is good experience, but if you keep doing it, you are just stupid. It's like putting your hand in fire.

All of you should be trying to get rid of your weaknesses, only then will you be truly happy. Alcohol makes you happy like Britney's boobs get bigger.
