    Mahlers 5th is awesome!

Buck, I would recommend you Hejira by Joni Mitchell, from 1976, her last truly great album (even though Turbulent Inidigo is quite good), all the songs in Hejira are winners, it is a really influential jazz-rock album and it features an early Jaco Pastorious from before he got big.
Lyrics are great and they document some kind of journey across north America.
Downloadable songs, Black Crow, Amelia and refugee of the roads.

            Mayhem of Oz.

Unfortunately at the moment they are a local band, and you can't actually find any of their stuff on the net yet, so its kind of pointless me recommending them.

            Boris should listen to Mayhem.

If that's a reference to me, I can say in my defence I own and enjoy all my recommendations.

To what am I alleged to be pretending? I have been a serious Eno fan since I first bought 'Discreet Music' in 1980, but enjoyed his work since 1972- when I first saw at a tender nine years of age, Roxy Music performing on Top of the Pops, - a blistering rendition of 'Virginia Plain'.

Similarly, I first heard Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on a Womad compilation, it was the track 'Allah Hoo' if I recall.
Since then I have assiduously purchased his recordings and seen him perform live, but only once, before his tragic, far too early death.

I have had the good fortune to see Gil Scott Heron live, once in 1984 with a pared down band of four, and in 1998, with a larger group.

If the choices seem pretentious to you, then tant pis. You listen to what you like. I know what I like.

No. I do understand smilies, it's just that a combination of sunburn and hayfever is making uncharacteristically cranky and quick to anger.

You all need to buy the newly-released compilation Journey Into Space by The Vulcans. I've no idea why you in perticualr really, except for the name and some of the song titles, but it's really cool if strange mid-seventies Moog-based reggae.
