he doesn't want to join the French Foreign Legion.
why not? they'll take you. the first couple of years are extremely hard though, hand you have to learn french.
on the other hand you do get french citizenship when you retire
Gangerwolf, Well there current missions are mostly peace keeping. I'd have to learn french, and take french mindset in doing things (like shaking hands first thing in the morning etc.). They're not like they used to be.
I have done some research, I'm not looking for cleaning the barracks for 5 years.

And besides, I don't want French citizenship. There's also lots of problems with discipline, because there are tons of people joining in from Eastern Europe, with no military backround. That is not what I'm looking for.

And the rest of them are not? Come on.. no one is innocent. Besides, I rather defened some rich guys diamonds and fight some rival guerillas, than some religious war. Though I'd do both . But I wouldn't go 100% against my beliefs. I have some ethics that I will never brake.

Great thread. This is actually the perfect anti-war thread, haven't you noticed? It shows perfectly that all wars are FUBAR.
Btw, I've been watching "Saving Private Ryan" on TV tonight. That's an antiphatic film, isn't it? It's confusing the anti-war element with classic patriotism. It seems that the scenario has been rewritten at some point. The "Thin Red Line" appeals to me much more...

I can't think of a better war movie than Saving Private Ryan. It certainly doesn't glorify war. But at the same time it is very patriotic.
