I don't play shooters on consoles, cause I like to play them with my friends in a LAN, and only on person I know even has an Xbox (surprise, surprise).

Halo, Rallisport Challenge, Project Gotham Racing (it's NOT a racer like GT3, and if you think it is you've never played it), MotoGP, JSRF, Morrowind, World Series Baseball?

I covered Halo and Rallisport Challenge. Project gotham I've seen, though I'm not too keen on non-realistic racers. MotoGP is good though. Haven't seen Morrowind in stores here (only for the PC), nor WS Baseball (which I wouldn't care about anyway).

And still, you name no fighters nor footy games. And as of yet, no racers (MotoGP excluded) either, that beat the PS2 titles.

Also, you not liking FFX makes you a minority, cause just about everyone likes it. Just look at the Gamespot ratings, it's doing way better than Morrowind.

I don't know footy games because I live in North America. I've got Fifa 2002 and Fifa World Cup 2002 but apparently you euros think they're crap, and I love them. Pro Evo Soccer or whatever isn't sold here, I don't think. As for fighters, there's only one that I know of that's out for Xbox that's any good and that's DOA3. But it's mostly a tech demo.

There are some great Xbox fighters coming up from developers with very good pedigrees that includes Kakuto Chojin and Tao Feng. And unlike your games you listed, they actually appear new and innovative. I'm not a big fan of Tekken nor Virtua Fighter, I think those franchises need to die a horrible death because I'm just not interested in them anymore and they're just not innovating.

As for racing games, I thought you were kidding. It's generally accepted that the Xbox is home to tons of great racing games.

I had a ps2, but it broke, and I didn't play it anymore anyway, so i don't really miss it. Any decent game for the ps2 is probably on another console anyway. I DO miss the DVD player part of it, but i can get another DVD player cheaply, no big deal. I also have a Gamecube, and i love it so far. Only 2 games so far (smash brothers, and mario sunshine) but some more great games are coming out soon. (Metroid anyone? Zelda? Hello? )

I must say that from my weeks expereince with Halo and couple weeks expereince with golden eye that I agree (and both those gamse are up there with Halfllife for my favorite FPSs (halflife I have played for hours), all three I mainly like because of mulitplayer (halflife is the best vurrently) but I would say that Halo has the ebst single player).

The PS2 is good for squaresoft RPGs and racing games (And arcades), I likfe the FFs and the Japanese style RPGs that do not hold your hand as much (FF does becuase they try to make it as mass market as possible). I get everything on computer (and that is what I mostly use also).

I'm really hoping the F-Zero screenshots released are just really early, and they're going to improve on them more for the final. It doesn't look much better than an N64 game right now.

Fortunately Quantum Redshift comes out in about a week, and that'll hold me in the Futuristic Highspeed Racing genre for a while.

i'm a pc gamer. the only reason i got a ps2 was for square, and wherever square goes, i'll follow. yep, i'm an addict of the ff games, the ct, games, etc.

i do kinda like the xbox, though, and the gc as well-- in an ideal situation, i'd have all three, simply because i like having all platforms (my pc has win98se, winxppro, linux, and i'm going to see if i can install darwin, which is what MacOSX is based on...)

but... if i were you, and looking at newer, non-series titles, the xbox would be my choice.

All FIFA football games suck, and I (sadly) played all of them. The Winning Eleven / International Superstar Soccer francise is 10 times better. And yes, all euros (or soccer fans for that matter) agree with me.

DOA3 sucks. and yeah, I played it too. It doesn't match up to Tekken or Virtua Fighter.

Erm...actually I think it's pretty pathetic. Sony was the only next-gen console on the market for an entire year, which is older than the GCN or Xbox right now, and it still took a long time before some decent games came out. To add insult to injury, Sony's been the mass market whore now for years, no wonder it's got all of those mass market franchises.

Even with all the Xbox's supposed "power", it has a really tough time beating the older PS2 when it comes to quality games in the genres mentioned above.

Maybe that's because the genres you mentioned above are the typical mass market type game fueled by bigname franchises that people like you gobble up? Games like that don't appear on newbie consoles like the Xbox. The thing's only 10 months old from a newcomer to the market and has a fraction of the marketshare of the PS2. If all you're into is the mass market gaming (what a way to fit in), then by all means get a PS2.

It doesn't change the fact that there are great games on the Xbox that there's no match for on the PS2, and all of the multiplatform games look and play better on the Xbox than PS2, and there's a ton more interesting games coming out soon that are interesting (to me at least) on the Xbox than PS2.
