Ramo: We must remember that first and for most the governments of each country exist to better the lives of the citizens of that country. The laws are designed to balance the competeting interests of different groups of citizens. Businesses want more labor so costs will go down while labor unions wish to raise the wages of their members so they seek to protect them from an influxes of new competetors from abroad.

Immigration, labor, & minimium wage laws all work togeather to try to balance those competeting interests in order that we might have the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people. This is what most would consider working towards a more just society.

In your opinion. I'm not a nationalist. I don't believe the US gov't (or for that matter, any other government) should screw over people because they happen to belong to the wrong country.

Businesses want more labor so costs will go down while labor unions wish to raise the wages of their members so they seek to protect them from an influxes of new competetors from abroad.
            What's your point?

I don't think marginalizing workers from other countries is the best agenda for unions. I don't agree with quite a few things many unions unfortunately advocate (protectionism, for instance).

            Immigration, labor,
You'll have to be more specific about "labor" laws. I don't disagree with all labor laws (the ones I'm primarily concerned about are statist laws that allow the government to "intervene" in labor disputes).

And I don't know why we're discussing this. Isn't the topic about immigration?

            & minimium wage laws
            See above.

all work togeather to try to balance those competeting interests in order that we might have the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people. This is what most would consider working towards a more just society.

If you think the status quo, where the government depreciates worker wages by keeping large numbers of our work force illegal is good for anyone but the rich, you're out of your mind.

Yeah, so we should deport you, damn Kiwi. You have no business being on American soil, stealing American jobs.
