- Jews are prosecuted around the world just for the fact that they are jews for nearly two thousand years. They are randomly massacred, they get very little rights if any, they are often disallowed to celebrate their holidays and act according to their traditions and they have to pay protection taxes to the authorities, if they're lucky.

Surely some high-ranked officer is going to get relieved due to this misfortunate screw-up.Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

- Roughly a hundred years ago: Jews get sick of it all, decide that it's impossible to fight off antisemity and/or live safely within other nationalities, as Jews are the only nationality which are scattered throughout Europe rather than have a territory of their own and therefore are considered a plague by most Europeans and are mistreated. Jews collect money, mostly from donations as most Jews were very poor that time, buy lands from the Turkish empire (yes, buy, not steal) which the Turks never wanted or had any use for anyway (completely uninhabited lands, most of which were on or near swamplands) and begin to build villages and an agricultural infrastructure.
A 100 years ago the jewish population of palestine was 25.000. The small influx of jewish settlers were encouraged by the palestinian population, as they brought new farming techniques and hard currency in with them. In 1920 the zionists declared that the jews had no intention of sharing the land with anyone, however, and the troubles began.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

Jews are treated unfairly by the authorities, which did nothing to prevent attacks from raiders and pirates and charged the Jews for a lot of bribe money to get anywhere. Despite all this, the Jews were persistant, as this was better than returning to Europe.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

Current tennants see the Jews settling in their precious completely uninhabited swamplands and desertlands and decide they don't like this one bit, so they continually harass Jewish villages and towns and the Jews just barely manage to defend themselves. Wherever Jewish defenses fail, innocent women and children are horribly massacred by the arabs.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

- Post-holocaust: the U.N. decides that the Jews deserve a national home to keep them safe from such atrocities as the holocaust in the future
[quote]and approve several committees whose job is to suggest possible ways of splitting Palestine between the Jews and the Palestinians. Different committees make different suggestions, none of which is accepted by the Palestinians as they declare they are not willing to compromise on any of the land. [quote]
Well, duh... It doesn;t really matter how much land your committee decides to steal, it is still theft and no one would be expected to agree to it.
Some proposals outlined a Jewish state which was merely ~20% of Palestine, which the Jews accepted but the Palestinians rejected.
They lobbied quite fiercly, especially with the US, and cried loudly when they only got 50% of the land.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

This is all fairly academic. The bombing has been condemned by the EU and UN. More significantly, even a White House spokesman has been making fairly irate comments.

The U.N. approves a Jewish state which is roughly half the size of Palestine (don't be mislead though, about half our territories were desert lands). The Palestinians and arabs as a whole protest.
Furthermore, while only 25% of the population of palestine was jewish, by careful zoning the proposed state got 50% of the land and a population consisting of 51% jews.
Finally, the UN had no legal right to give away the palestinian land. They were only caretakers of the region, not owners. The arabs had the legal right to veto the suggestion.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

Palestinians move to Jordan, thinking that they could soon return and find out that all the Jews are gone.
*also carefully ignoring the part where a palestinian who 'fled' had his land confiscated by Israel, even if he was only gone for half a day*

Sharon: blamed for making a bad choice of words. He didn't know this attack would hurt others nor does he receive this information, he merely authorizes operations. If the army officials told him that it's very unlikely that civilians will be hurt in this attack then that's all he knew. Blaming Sharon for knowing that this attack would hurt civilians and authorizing it anyway shows of a completely misunderstanding of the structure of the Israeli government and military and the process of decision making.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine

All in all, it just shows what the majority of the world knows by know. Israel has no intention of getting peace. The greed of Israel has no constraints, and a peace treaty would effectively stop the continued land theft.
The only thing propping Israel up right now is the ignorance of american voters and the greed of american politicians. Disgusting.Gnu Ex Machina - the Gnu in the Machine
