Roland, Since you have often posted anti-NATO remarks, I presume you consider your leader supremely intelligent for not having joined NATO.

BTW, how does Austria contribute to the collective defense of the EU?

ROTFL= roll on the floor laughing.

Vet, Greece fulfilled the 3 criteria for the EMU (european monetary union). So it is fixed.

mind you, nobody believed we could do it, hence the enthousiastic reviews Greek economy has been getting from the international press since. (some of them too enthousiastic and not all true).

Markos: Greece should get a national debt clock because the latest figure I could find (1994) showed Greece's external national debt being 140% of GDP. The USA's is only 8% of GDP meaning it is much easier to maintain the balance of payments of the the US then it is for Greece.

                apparently it's not

                $30/sec!
Debt increases just like money in the bank increases- with interest.

In facct the US debt is no worse than in elder ages such as the Civil War, etc when compared to the national GDP when compared to ancient GDP's vs. the Dollar.

In fact Andrew Jackson had a problem much like the current one, but he was even DEEPER in debt... So he sold Govt. Lands.

The Govt. owns a LOT of land- esp in Alaska that they could sell if the debt ever got out of hand- but it isnt.

It SHOULD be paid off, but it isn't the horrid monster that some would have you believe.

When did the US declare war?
                Last time? World War II

No, they're just footdraggin chicken**** idiots who sometimes randomly produce the right policy. But in case you haven't noticed, we've been a free ridin' NATO member since 1955.

"BTW, how does Austria contribute to the collective defense of the EU?"

                    The montain navy, of course.

You're confusing public sector debt with overall foreign debt. And the US balance of payments... well...

                        with plenty of digits

most shockingly we should make another clock next to that one which will say the EU money we have lost due to state inadequacy and we returned back

yet another clock with the amount of EU money which went to certian "pockets" of certain people...

add the sumsof the last two clocks and substract the total from the sum of the first clock.

The sign is mis-leading. Its just stating our debt, and not our abilty to pay that debt. Lets say you lend me $3, I am in debt to you $3. However, if I make $50 an hour, my ability to pay the $3 debt is no big deal.

yes. so you should get in even more debt, since you can repay it. eventually.
