      $ 30/sec ?

      Estimated deficit is 165 billion $ (good deal higher if you exclude the socsec surplus).

      ~5000/second

      Did I miss something ?

          Yes, we have a national debt.

          We can let Greeks pay part of it if they really want to have one.

              Well their cronyism is annoying, but quite cheap overall. I'd loath replacing that with anything more expensive....

              And are you telling me there that your politicians are not stupid ?

                Many are stupid...but some are not stupid they are villains.
                But I don't want to hijack this thread...I will start a Berlusconi thread maybe.
                On the debt we are much better now: with the € the total figure lost three zeros and it seems much more palatable

                  I bet the lead post is a US knock, without looking at it....

                  Looked, right again.

                  They are still working on getteing power in Greece, so such a clock still wouldn't be practical Mark.

                    "how about the Gulf War?" 101 billion. (91 figure)

                    Ya were back in the deficit. But I guess we sort of had too. As long as it isnt 500 billion and in the 2-5% range its not a problem. Its paid back when things get better.

                      When did the US declare war?
                      One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

                          We'll see the 500 billion number (which would be about 5 %; not sure if your range is preceded by an "is" or "is not".)
