Caligastia, my favorite Christmas ale is Goose Island's Wassale (or however it's spelt). I haven't tried the Great Lake's Brewery stuff though.

Where is that one brewed?

Its good stuff. They may sell some of it in the chicago area, you should look out for it next time youre up that way. The Edmund Fitzgerald Porter is excellent, and the Dortmunder Gold is also delicious.
Sorry, not torturing you am I?

I have never had "good wine" nor will I probably ever will. It is my opinion that only an idiot would pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a few ounces of old grape juice.
Quality wine isn't necessarily expensive, drake. You can get very good wines at low prices, depending on the country and vinyards. For instance, Chile is importing some really good wines at dirt-cheap prices. And plenty of really expensive wines are crappy. It's about knowing what to get.
And a pasta dinner just isn't the same without a glass of red wine. And, according to my meat-eating friends, you won't find a better compliment for a new york strip dinner.

Nah, she bought it. After first taking me to BW3s for hotwings and Newcastle on tap. I got a sixer of Newcastle in the fridge right now.

Goose Island Brewey in Chicago, across the river from Goose Island, the only island in Chicago (man-made). They've got pretty good food, but I'm not a terribly big fan or their beer, cuz they use way too much hops. The Wassail is an exception.

I love red wine. Nothing like a good merlot to go with your steak...
The problem is finding a good merlot. Most merlot (pronounced mair-low) is poorly made in the US, somewhat vinegary. My favorite red wine is Zinfindel. Not the "white" crap that's all fruity, but a hearty red wine that's nice and peppery, with hints of cherry and chocolate and tobacco. Yum. Failing that, a good shiraz/syrrah (same thing, different names).
BTW, room temperature for wines means cellar temperature, about 62 degrees. Take your red and toss it in the fridge for about a half an hour before serving.

For those confused about the ban of alcohol down here in Kosovo, it's only for Americans and it only seems to be in Balkans. I don't know where the regulation came from, probably some puritanical general in our sector decided that the Americans were going to go alcohol free for their 7 months of duty.
On the bright side, through a mixture of luck and manipulating the system, I get a room to myself for the next month while everyone else goes 6 men to a room, now that I have the advantage of my own room, I'll just have to go out and do a little womanizing...
