I still have a few relatives there, and according to them the situation really sucks. Lots of drugs, early pregnancies, alcoholism(more than ever, and they always had lots of it), poverty, crime etc. And all this happens on major scale with huge chunks of the population, not a few percents

There's one positive aspect in this matter, thought...

Well, it's sort of... I like to call it "Cave Flying Techno", after the musics in that great Finnish work of gamesmanship, Wings. Wings is the main reason I can't associate techno with anything other than computer games nowadays.

Here is my choice:

Russia will no longer be a great power - it'll just be moderately powerful, like Britain now. (I assume Great Power means superpower)
Russia will be wealthier than now.
Russia will have about the same areas than now.
Russia will be democratic capitalist state, similar to US.

By 20 years, it'll come back to Great Power status, I think. When oil and minerals can be more easily extracted from Siberia.

Russia simply doesn't need to send troops to any part of the world that is not already adjacent to Russia.

Britain, right now, is more powerful than Russia. However, that won't last. When Russia gets going on the right path (it is still in the middle of capitalist growing pains), it will be more powerful than any state other than the US and China (the EU won't be a state by then ).
