Yes, they do. But unfortunately I didn't hear about any precedents of *orderly* bankruptcy... There still remains a lot to be done.

Are land deeds now recognized by the law?
The Duma recently passed such a law. But there remain some limitations.

Is there something like a Uniform Commercial Code? That sort of thing.
      I don't know this.

What they really want is to see Russia strong and respected. In people's minds, this just boils down to the word "superpower", which in this context serves as a convenient cliche.

DanS got it. Currently, US is a superpower and China and Russia are great powers. Europe, unified, would also be a great power.

And Imran, why did you take great power to mean superpower, when I already had superpower as a separate category?

Unfortunetly though, Britain is a Great Power . As is France, Germany, China and Japan. The US is the lone Superpower (or Hegemon). Europe, unified, would be a Superpower. If Russia is a Great Power, Britain would definetly have to be one, because Britain is mightier than Russia at the present.

The Mother Russia will always surprise you. It's unpredictable, it's one of our national traits.

Yes. The land can be bought and sold freely now. The only exception is the lands in frontier zone can't be sold to foreigners.

You should explain what this thing means, before I could answer this question.

Britain is more powerful than the crime-ridden corrupt state that is modern Russia.
                        Oh no, what a bullsh!t.

Where is Britain in talks about ME? Where is Britain in talks about crisis between India and Pakistan, etc? Aside Britain, Russia participate in every talks which has impact on global political situation.
It's ridicules to think that Britain has more global influence then Russia.

Agreed. We'll never be like USA.
Powerwise vis-a-vis the U.K., Russian will have a stronger army, a weaker navy and will project itself less around the world. So the two will average out.
                            A weaker navy?
I don't know about this. I guess Brits have ten times less submarines then we have.

Subs don't matter really... Brits have more carriers, IIRC.

Russia would never join the EU, they lost hundreds of millions of lives over the past 200 years, to just give it up and take down there borders and say "Thats it, come on in Europe" without a shot. Still to nationalist over there.....

Although, from a European perspective. Keep your friends close, your enemies closer. Perhaps I stumbled upon there master plans for world domination? :scary:
