"So you think they would vote to be part of Spain if they were allowed to keep their current tax system..?"
If you read my previous post, I said they should have the same tax setup we do in the mainland UK...then we could see what the support for remaining part of the UK actually is, without any unfair biases.
In fact I would be curious to see how strong the support would be if we said that after a referendum they would be taxed normally as part of the UK, but Spain would keep the current tax haven status...I bet you most of the greedy sods living there would suddenly become very Spanish indeed.
Very possibly, but as Jasev said, Spain wouldn't accept that. So in your scenario it would be a choice between the normal British tax system and the normal Spanish tax system.
It isnt all about tax rates, too, is important their salaries, they earn a normal British salary but they have a Spanish lifestyle that is cheaper so why are they going to want to be make lower their lifestatus?
In fact, there are some spanish people that work in The Rock that dont want a Spanish Gibraltar becuase it would suppose that they lost their well-paid jobs so...
I believe that a referendum for Gibraltar it is the same that supporting English cause jsut because it is better for their interest, there is nothing of British nationalism, if it was in this way the independence option woudlnt be allowed

But that lifestatus is only supported by their fiscal advantages. Without their fiscal status, gibraltarian economy will drop dramatically.

Yes, but medium salaries in England are higher than Spanish ones, and in gibraltar rule English Economic laws.
It is curious that the option that most extendend along Blair and aznar is the less voted here, common soverignity doesnt look as a good choice

What dows Gibraltar produce? Whad does gibraltar sell? Without their fiscal status, their economy would collapse. British medium salaries are higher than spanish, but that is only because british economy is stronger than spanish. Gibraltarian isn't.
Yes , yes of course, but I refered that in the fact that Gibraltar has the same financial status that UK, their laws would have a higher minimum salary that in Spain, so spanish who work here would still be interested of working in the Rock.
I give the example of Ceuta or Melilla, they have a special status but they still have most oof our financial laws.
Imagine that the cost of Gibraltar were impossible to afford by the British, and the British government wanted to rid of Gibraltar.
Do they still want to offer llanitos a referendum?
"Y una polla como una olla."
Let's make referendums, Do the Spanish want Gibraltar? --> Vote.
Do the British want Gibraltar? --> Vote.
What does Gibraltar wanna be? ---> Vote.
Vote, vote, vote.
