  • most overated PC game ever?

    i'd go for Half Life,

it won 101 awards, but gave future FPS an excuse to have a ****ty ammount of enemies on screen, as long there was a narrative. it took a couple of years and Serious Sam to recify the situation!

Half-life was ****. Boring run-and-jump Mad Skillz shooter without good level design. Jump onto the next platform, then to the next platform, over the electric current... *yawn* Nothing compared to the magic of Quake 2, which recieved much worse reviews. The story was **** too, very cliché.

I'd go for the entire Ultima series, though. Or any so-called "CRPG" for that matter.

Jeez, what the hell does it matter? that question isn't rhetorical BTW, unless you want to post in the 'reply to the off topic threads that should have been in 'other games forum' forum?

          Civ III.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I would if there was such a forum.

                  Command and Conquer: Red Alert

Revolting colour scheme, I mean red and blue soldiers and tanks? It's not the Napoleonic era here. Compared to C&Cs tasteful grey and tan soldiers, this really stupid.

Mine for "ore"; what a stupid concept, I mean the stuff even turned up on top of the snow. Who left it there? Tiberium made much more sense.

There was little use for infantry units. Fiddly to control, incredibly slow and weak.

Stupid, convoluted single-player missions, often involving conveniently placed explosive barrels. And Tanya.

And really bad missions in 'secret bunkers'.

Hideously out of scale units. I know this is common thing for RTS, but it's really extreme in Red Alert.

Stupid technologies; why do the Allies have conventional defenses like bunkers and turrets, whilst the Soviets have flame towers and Tesla coils?

And for a special mention, civ3.

Er, Sandman, it was meant to be ludicrous? RTS is hardly the epitome of realism, is it?

I liked Half-Life, it was cool, I liked Quake 2...I've generally been very careful about the games I have bought because they are expensive, but I know what I am safe with though

Other than being SP, III isn't too bad.
It just pissed me off that it was rushed and only single player.
