I don't thing Dumb and Dumber, or Dude, Where's My Car? or anything like that qualifies. They weren't anything more or less than what they claimed to be, dumb, silly movies. I think "worst" should go to those films with higher pretentions, and then sink soooo much lower (Ishtar, anyone?).

Pearl Harbor had more technical mistakes than any film made in the past 40 years.

If I could remember their names, there were enormous numbers of truly bad films made in the 1950s. Almost any Sci-Fi film made in the 50s could contend for the title of worst picture ever made. Exceptions would be "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Blob".

ok, you might have a point

It does make it somewhat more difficult though

I can see that threads on bad movies are not good. C'mon, guys! When it's entirely subjective, how can you possibly hope to come up with answers?

I won't name the movies I think are bad because there are far too many that I couldn't possibly pick the WORST. But you want films with no redeemable value, any film shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 would qualify. When you take out the funny commentary, they can induce vomitting. They use them in suicide cults to convince people to drink the Kool Aid.

hmmmm, that was to bizarre to be truely horrifically bad, definately wouldn't see if again though

K-9. You better believe this is one of the worst comedies ever made
Actually liked that one a bit, of course I was a tasteless 12 year old at the time

                    Dude, Where's My Car?
I snuck into Dude, Where's My Car after paying for Vertical Limit (oooooh lets not have people wear masks when mountain climbing at heights ridiculous enough to freeze them solid since the actors are sooooo veeery pretty and lets have everyone be ever so happy that the heroine was saved in a rescue attempt that only required about ten deaths, horrible movie ) and thought it did a decent job of what it set out to do, wouldn't mind seeing it again under the influence of something...

Cutthroat Island is good--in fact, I bought the video.

Time Machine was awful though. It's sad Simon Wells is more a Tim Burton fan than he is a fan of H.G. Wells. This latest version of the movie missed the entire point of the book.

my screen play writing prof has used it (Cutthroat island) as an example of bad movies since it came out on video...

Bah, Cutthroat Island has lots of good stuff:

Morgan's father found a really great spot to hide his map.

The "doctor's" banter with the homely woman as he's picking her clean of jewelry is quite cute.

                                How about the exchange:
"Morgan, I was hoping to find you sober!"
"Really? I was hoping to be passed out by now."

There's a great stunt where Morgan dives out of a second story window and does a blind sumersault onto the seat of a racing wagon.

Admittedly, there are some bad spots:

Releasing a homing pigeon at night in a hurricane.

No effort at all in hauling up the largest pirate treasure ever.

Only one African-American pirate in the whole crew and only one guy with a tatoo.

But mostly, the title! I mean, "Cutthroat Island" Yeechh!
