The econ guy I know best actually seemed to have learned some diff eq. Not enough, of course, but some. He seemed to be able to do everything up to and including integrating factors. Watered down version of the ODE class I took (no Laplace transforms, no understanding of systems of interrelated ODEs, etc.). Didn't apply much group theory to physics, don't know much solid-state crap.
