Australia, despite its lack of a large army, is known as a country with quite a reliable army. And shaddup about Gallipoli. That was the brit's fault.
Israel also has a very good army. Not very big, but very high quality in manpower and technology. The only reason Israel couldn't whoop all of the ME is because they couldn't control the population afterwords."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

Alternative 'country' threads:
Which country has the highest rate of morbid obesity?
Which piece of military equipment has the highest cost and lowest usefulness?
Which country has conducted the most nuclear tests?
Which country has the lowest survival rates for cancer? (Britain I think)

Quiet, you. We could invade Australia any time we wanted.
Hell, to invade Australia you would need at least some sort of navy...
Seriously though, neither Australia nor Canada are currently close to being superpowers. China has a shot at it.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

I don't expect that you associate Siberia with something else then gulags.
As for spelling of word hegemony, I know perfectly how it's spell, I was laughing on you.
A perks of living in a truly powerful State?

[list=1][*]The USA. No need to explain further.[*]Russia. They have the greatest wealth of land in the world, and a hell of a lot of natural resources. They beat out China because China is in a somewhat inefficient system. The capitalist economy will turn Russia into a second USA eventually. Russia probably won't overtake the US because the states have such a headstart and because the USA has a much better climate, but they will become powerful. Hopefully, the political system won't get too corrupt.[*]This is the most difficult choice to make, but I'd have to say China. Its population and giant army might have been enough, but the fact that India has two enemies pushes China over the line. If there was an East-Asian war, China and Pakistan together would beat the hell out of India. But anyway, this paragraph isn't supposed to be about why India isn't in this spot, its supposed to be about why China is. I have quite a bit of confidence in the Communist system compared to most Americans. The Communist Chinese will be able to ride through economic depressions and get everybody when they aren't prepared.[*]India. Big land holdings, big population, and a capitalist economy. Those are very important in my opinion. A capitalist economy can bring many nations that appear troubled to the highest position in the world. Though India still has to deal with threats from two sides if war breaks out. Pakistan's army won't be much of a threat, but the fact that China can use it as a base is important.[*]Here come the small but economically powerful nations.... starting with Germany. Powerful economy, and big land area for a euro nation.[*]Japan. Economy is great, but two hydrogen bombs could obliterate it in a war. (Countries wouldn't hydrogen bomb Germany because the contamination would anger the surrounding nations.) Japan is surrounded by water, and China would be more happy than angry if someone destroyed Japan. Not to mention that Japan also depends on trade for literally everything.[*]England. It has no big enemies, and even if it did get into a war, it has a lot of national spirit, a water border, and a history of winning.[*]France. It has a great economy, but their army doesn't ever win anything, and the "French Resistance" was bull****. Its membership grew forty times larger after the second world war ended.Additionally, everyone hates them.[*]Singapore. Like Japan, but smaller.[*]Finland. (Not just to appease our Finnish members.) Seriously. They are technologically advanced, and perhaps quite loaded with oil. But I'm not sure about this one. Feedback, anyone? Israel? Taiwan? South Korea? Indonesia? Australia? Canada? Italy? Mexico? Brazil? Please criticize my list.
