So therefore, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. are all cults. All have the intent of mind control over the masses. All of them fear individuality and free will.
I disagree, cults are specialists in reason, grand architects of whole systems of reason in fact. Just remember that reason is not the opposite of insanity, sanity is the opposite of insanity. You'll find that many fruit-of-the-forest flake and nut bar enjoyers have very cohesive reasons for believing or doing what they believe in or do.

I make no real distinction between cults and religions, the only difference between them is that some are bigger or older, and some are able to hold down a steady job whilst being a cult or religion. I don't understand why some cults tend to kill themselves though, you'd think your average cult leader would want to keep a "good" thing going >shrugs<.

I'm a panathiest, and humbly accept the universe is infinately vaster then I am and all that I know- and infinately awesome and full of mystery, and therefore has no need to recieve my praises or my money, oh and being infinately part of it anyway I have no need to hope for an eternal ego of some kind when I'm done cycling biomatter, things that matter to me still matter, why anthropomorphisize things by believing in some kind of cosmic alpha-male boss-guy, its... small minded and foolish.

Cults, i see as wanting something from you, leading you on to get something from you therefore: Catholocism iss a cult, the pope wants your cash and the local preists..... we'll leave that alone, just hold on to your kids during communion.

Protestant churches though, they don't think up weird stuff like Indulgences or any of the other Catholic scemes to get some $$ to maintain the bloody vatican. The offerings are free will and quite frankly in my experience it's not that emberassing to miss one. They're formed to give you something, if it's a cult it's a pretty backwards one.

            Nope. I'm bored now.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

You would be more interested if I really was in a cult I suppose.

                Probably.

Of course, no one who is in a cult ever admits that they are in a cult.

I can't be in a cult. I'm holed up in my apartment with no visitors. If I'm in a cult, it's a cult of one.

Reason, or Logic is an opposite to Emotion. Insanity is the inability to suppress emotion with logic. Is the relationship clear yet? Of course sanity/insanity are opposites. Neither logic, nor emotion are most important. Rationality is important. A balance between emotion and reason. An institution that has you go one way or the other is being irrational. So I guess I need to deviate from the WUD definition I gave earlier. Perhaps "...any organization that encourages people to believe or act irrationally." is a better way to put it.

I agree. Christianity is a cult, because it encourages emotion, but no logic. Confucianism is a cult because it encourages logic, but no emotion. The only religious institution I don't see as a cult is Buddhism, as it encourages you to find the middle path, the balance in everything. Though I consider Buddhism more philosophical than religious. And it is the philosophy that I follow to an extent.
