    Honesty is good.
Openness is very commonly usefull, rarely is it bad.
For the most rapid public acceptance of that which was previouly taboo, the maximun public exposure short of creating a general backlash would appear to be the best strategy. Some small level of backlash is inevitable, regarless of the amount of "in your face-edness".
Coming out, done without excesive challenge or effrontery, does appear to be an effective means of reducing public taboo and disdain for homoseuality.

Let's not bring up the "mythical" gay gene, Mr. Fun There's as much evidence for its existance as thier is for the psychological causes of homosexuality.

Just for amusement value, Here's a review of Queer Science for you.

I read parts of the review at this hour. But what's the point? You can bring reviewers who would argue to support your opinion that LeVay is not credible, and I can bring forth reviewers who would argue to support my opinion that LeVay is credible.

As I have noted before, the genetic theory is not the only theory that is available. Perhaps sexual orientation develops differently than exclusively genetically. My other parts of my research report that I have done covers scientific theories in the psychological development realm, and other theories.

And yes, I do agree to some extent with that review, which is that there is a danger if sexual orientation is proven to be purely genetic (probably not). Which brings us to the next part of my research report:

Once we find out how sexual orientation develops, we will have to grapple with some serious ethical and social questions. Homophobic parents and doctors might try to “treat†a child into becoming heterosexual, even if it would be against his/her natural development.

In 1974, the American Psychology Association stated that homosexuality is not an illness and they based their decision on past studies and observations (LeVay, 211). The American Medical Association and the American Psychoanalytical Association support this decision (LeVay, 229).

In spite of this, we still hear or read about “treatment†centers today that claim to “cure†people of their homosexuality or bisexuality and “converting†them into heterosexuals. There are no consistent, documented successes other than from the publicized, questionable claims from the centers themselves. It could be the case that the staff of these centers are exploiting adult and/or teenage gays and lesbians who have low self-esteem or who have fears about their true sexual orientation and so they volunteer for treatment at these centers. It can be psychologically traumatic for those gays and lesbians who volunteer to try to force a sexual orientation on themselves that simply is not a part of them (forcing themselves to become heterosexual when they’re not). Many people in the affirmative gay community believe these centers are simply one avenue for homophobic people to attack gay society.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Or it may just be that such centres wish to enable each patient to become a more productive member of society. (ie, be able to have children themselves).

And what do we do with the people such as yourself who will never court a lady long enough to become a real father?

I fail to appreciate your tasteless joke that you did out of spite and ignorance.

And another thing -- homosexual couples are able to conceive their own children without direct intercourse with someone of the opposite gender.

The best way to come out I would think is to just be yourself. Unless your friends and family are idiots I think they can figure out if you're straight or gay, assuming you're true to yourself.

Why are you sensitive to a few harmless jokes mrfun? A man that cant laugh at himself isnt much of a man if you ask me.

Lesbians have it easy in that regard though with in vitro fertilization. I'd like to see a gay couple pull off the same trick.

It already has. Thousands of thousands of times I'm sure. Whats the difference if a surrogate mother has a baby for a straight couple that cant concieve or for a gay couple?

The only difference would be that only one of the "fathers" sperm could be used to create a child......which could be problomatic for a gay couple if sh1t ever hit the fan and custody issues ever arose.

Talk about how to ruin a childhood. Raised by two lesbians - who would have wanted that upbringing?

Uhhh... I can think of a lot of kids that don't have ANY parents... and I'm sure they would disagree with you...

And also, it sure beats the alternative... Hmmm, I can either not exist, or I can live a full life as long as I'm raised by two people who love me, and just happen to love each other but are both female...

You are a bigot... it's that simple.
