    Ahem... (*cough*)...

    About bulldozing those houses...

Well, if this was just simple retaliation, then it is the kind of thing that nazis and terrorists would do.

If, on the other hand, sniper fire from this area was in fact a major problem, then I would agree that something had to be done about it, but I still think maybe this particular "something" was a little over the top...

-At least you certainly don't get fewer enemies this way...

There was quite a lot sniper fire.

According to the army, most residents evacuated from scene months or weeks ago and they suspect the aid recievers are "acting" to get sympathy.

      But then, who knows?

I personally always supported the creation of the Islaeli state regardless what the arabic world says. They do deserve to have a country on their own since they were living there from the ancient years and were forced many times to abandon their lands.
The Palestinians are Arabs and Arabs came in Palestine between the 7th and 9th century AD. That's about 1-2 milleniums after the Hebrews first inhabited there (and kicked off the older residents ). But after a millenium of presence, Palestinians do deserve as well to have their own country too. You do know how it is to be without a country. You fought many years for that purpose. Why don't you give some lands to them and recognize them and end the whole story?

With Sharon in lead the only thing you will accomplish is to create more suicidal terrorist hits against innocent Israeli civilians.
        What a life!

Come on guys, knocking down buildings is not the same as massacring their inhabitants en masse. I don't know about you, but I like to maintain a distinction between property damage and death.

Keygen: The whole Greece-Israeli-Turkey thing is sort of a joke between Dalgetti, Siro, and Paiktis. At least, I hope it's a joke.

Anyway, the latest development is that defense minister (and leader of Israel's largest Knesset faction) Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said that the homes were uninhabited, and if anyone can prove they lost their place of residence, the defense ministry will provide mobile homes for them to live in. We'll see what happens.

              Cease fire kaput.

              Haaretz:
One Israeli was killed and one sustained moderate injuries Monday afternoon in a drive-by shooting near the West Bank village of Kuchin, between Nablus and Tul Karm.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Fatah, claimed responsibility for the shooting in a faxed statement to Reuters.

Shots were also fired Monday evening at an Israeli car near the West Bank city of Ramallah. There were no injuries in this incident.

Earlier Monday, after the killing of Tanzim leader Raed Karmi in Tul Karm, the Al Aqsa Brigades announced that it would resume attacks on Israelis that had been suspended following Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's call for a truce with Israel on Dec. 16.

"The so-called cease-fire is a joke and is canceled, canceled, canceled," the group wrote in a leaflet. "Revenge is coming."

Karmi, a leading Palestinian militant suspected of involvement in the murders of 10 Israelis was killed Monday, apparently when a bomb planted by the roadside detonated beside his passing car, in an incident that Palestinians called an Israeli-ordered assassination.

Karmi was the leader of Arafat's Fatah movement in the West Bank town of Tul Karm. Karmi had gained renown for having survived an Israeli assassination attempt in the past.

Palestinian Cabinet Minister Saeb Erekat accused Israel of trying to sabotage Zinni's mission. "The Israeli government is inviting Palestinian reaction, and we hold it (Israel) responsible for the escalation of this cycle," he said.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told a Likud faction meeting Monday afternoon that he had "first heard of the death of Tanzim activist Raed Karmi on the radio, and I have nothing further to add." No Israeli source has claimed responsibility for the assassination. However, there was also no denial of the Palestinian accusations that the IDF was responsible for his death.

Transport minister Ephraim Sneh told Army Radio shortly after the killing that Karmi "was one of the most deadly and explicit of terror activists."

Palestinian legislator Hanan Ashrawi blamed Sharon for Karmi's death and called for efforts to prevent such killings.

"This assassination means that Sharon is insisting on behaving as a state of mafia and gangs, adopting assassinations as a matter of policy and willfully targeting innocent Palestinians," she said.

One Palestinian source told Reuters that Karmi was not killed in his car, but was killed by an explosion after he was lured out of his Tul Karm hideout.

A senior Palestinian source said Karmi had been held in Palestinian police custody and was on the way back to prison after being allowed to visit his wife and daughter.

Israel has refrained of late from launching assassination attempts. The last such operation acknowledged by Israel took place on December 10, when missile-firing IDF helicopter gunships targeted a senior Islamic Jihad figure in the West Bank town of Hebron. The activist, Mohammed Sider, escaped, but two Palestinian children were killed in the attack.

Karmi had acknowledged that he killed two Tel Aviv restaurant owners in Tul Karm last year, as revenge for the killing of a senior Fatah leader by Israeli commandos. Karmi had also boasted to reporters that he had "seven lives" and would foil Israeli efforts to kill him.

IDF troops attempted to kill Karmi on September 6, in a helicopter missile attack that left him wounded, but killed two Fatah comrades riding in a jeep with the Tanzim commander.

It was a joke. I've said things for trolling and Siro responded.

I don't hold any grudge against him because I know his humour and I know him as a person.

Still I have to split, 'cause net forumability it is starting to become a habit and a bad one at that. I'm not in the best phases of my life and I say things I don't mean and lose my patience very quickly. If I stay longer I'll propably destroy most of my apolyton friendships. See you in a while.

                Peace.

Of course there's a difference, but that's not the point here.
The point - my point, anyway - is that I don't see any good reason whatsoever for this kind of behavior and they're only making more enemies for themselves... - as if they didn't have enough already!

Also, I would ask you to keep in mind that "nazi behavior" isn't necessarily a full-scale massacre.
Long before Auschwitz, they were harrassing and deporting Jews, stealing or destroying their property, kicking them out of their homes in the middle of the night, etc...

Too late. The other side has already won this round. (A propaganda victory.)
Whether the homes were actually inhabited or not doesn't really matter anymore.
The thing is that people think they were.

The northern border is getting hot.

There are weird unconfirmed reports about 57mm mortars fired from Lebanon, and AA fire on Israeli planes. 2 people in Kiryat Shmone reported that shrapnels hit their homes/cars.

Also, body of an Israeli was found in Beit Sahur(near Gilo-Beit Jala). The Pals claim that he was kidnapped and muredered.

The Fatah claimed responsibility for the murder near Beit Lehem.
The man killed is an American.

As long as he isn't Christian, who cares?

I'm just hoping that war doesn't actually break out, because then my crazy friend Yonatan's moving there to join the IDF.

He spends his whole life here and his family's never lived in Israel, but he says he feels more Israeli than Canadian. Oh well.
