              Paiktis: you mean 'fado', really melancholistic (sp?) songs.

              Portugues is about the coolest sounding language in the world. When Romario and Ronaldo played footbal in Holland they had the best accents, really smooth.

              And about Spain. My sister lives in Granada which is one of the prettiest cities ever. Great architecture, fascinating history and offcourse: FREE TAPAS with every drink you order. That way you snack your way through dinner standing at the bar.

              last february I went skiing in the Sierra Nevada. At 3400 meter you could see Africa. At night we went to all the nice bars. I rented a car and drove to a small place at the coast where my parents were on holiday. So one day you're standing in the snowwy mountains, next day you're standing at the beach.

              Not to mention Barcalona and Madrid with more culture than the whole of western Europe combined.

              Spain is really cool

                  Spain is a nation. It was formed due to the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon in the 15th century. The Iberian penninsula is a geographic region. It has a history of homo sapiens sapiens inhabitation dating back tens of milennia.

                    It sounded a bit like an eastern european language to me...! (like russian for example!). And I'm not the only one to have said that!

                      BTW, the portueguese guitars in these songs are mesmerizing. Distictive from the spanish ones and the language complements them perfectly! I had the chance to listen to them live.

                      And there are university bands that play them on festivities etc as I have heard. Keeping up the tradition in a way.

                            I can't see what's the fun in all the Spain-bashing. I have always loved that country and I visited almost all of its provinces. It certainly has a great history, and it certainly isn't "poor". Oh, and I don't share Giancarlo's fears of the military taking over.
