No one is required to say that. Hell, my liberal History teacher back in HS, would always add "some day" to the end of it. It's a non-binding pledge.

Can we (Britain) still hang people for treason?

Just don't let these foreign fighters return home.
If they want to fight in Afghanistan, then let them live there.

While he is a US citizen, he has done his deed in Afghanistan. There is no reason the NA can't try him.

I expect the US government will want to have him for trial. It would be good PR to have a few token European descent types among the defendents who will be mostly of middle east ethnic types.

What is it with Americans named Walker going off and getting involved in foreign civil wars?

All I'm saying is that his status as a citizen prevents him from being sent to the military tribunal, since they can be used only with non-citizens. Anything else is fair game.

BTW, given that he joined six months ago (and three months before WTC), do you think he joined with the intention of fighting America?

Doesn't really matter. The assumption is, he, an American citizen, fought against US forces.

Ahh. All this hearkens back to the days of British poets fighting in Greece.
                          I refute it thus!

I believe the question has been asked before: how does one surrender to a B-52?
