some of the dumbest stuff I've read is from the veteran spamers "LOOK AT ME I'M AN EMPEROR!"
who came first with the idea that being a vet or being a newbie depends on your postcount ??

It depends on your join date !
But people that joined may 1999 but still are a settler deserve the 'newbie' title as well imho.

    We should discuss this topic.
For how long is someone concidered to be a newbie ?
    Untill 1 year 'old'
    Until 1/2 year 'old'
    settlers or one year 'old'
    settlers or 1/2 year 'old'
    chief......

what do you (vets) think ?

      Yes, I know that's a newbie question , but hey!, ya gotta learn somewhere . . .

      I didn't think they even had internet in 1969 . . . . . .

P.S. I am only 19 years old so needless to say I was not around at that time to see what was going on . . .
The site started in July 1998. (There were predecessor sites going back to 96, too.) Because of UBB/vBB quirks, everybody who's an old-timer (before begginning 1999 has an unkonwon start date and is listed as 1969/1970 because that's the "beggining of time" for computer databases.

AH is not a real 1969er. He used to have a MAR or APR 1999 start tag, but got it changed when he had his profile rebuilt after a database glitch.

After our self-proclaimed never-registered "veteran" answers- I'll tell you the right answer, Timeline

And yes, both of the people who I will accept still post here- and it is not miing.

I have nothing against newbies- but our "selfproclaimed veteran" I believe, is a liar- unless, of course, he can answer the question.

Oh and AH registered somewhere May 1999 or something, I'd have to look at my archives to answer that.

I don't know who the answer is, but I know I was there in the very beginning days. I followed a link from the Universe site.

              remember Mr. Mantequilla and Jesse?

I heard that Yin26 was once a moderator here at apolyton. Anyone reason why he isn't doing it anymore? Did he step down?

I have been trying to get these last posts out of the way, in order to reach my kingship... I don't want to be lumped in with this latest Newbie Blitz.

Anyway, if this is newbie hell, can we torment newbies?

Oh brother, please tell me you're kidding DarkCloud... If you are spending most of your time going though your Apolyton Forum "Archives" when do you have time to play the game?

Perhaps you should go back a few posts and read sachmo71's entry; sounds like you to a tee!

hahahahahahahahahah oh man! "Who are the first two people to register?" hahahahahah grow up!

Shouldn't we, veterans that should have a personal avatar, get our own VIP lobby, were we could have private discussions without disturbing newbies and visitors?

Grrrr... there just is too many settlers around here asking wicked questions. *knocks down two newbies with his Celtic sword*

*yawn* I do more service to Apolyton's community base by posting here than playing the game.

I truly doubt you are an 'oldie', here 'since the first days'- the correct answer is either Jay Bee or DarthVeda...

One more question that would be easily known by you without looking at archives (a newer question)- What was the Area25 Affair- (note: this is only for Eliminator)- or if that isn't your taste since it isn't CivIIIee- who runs the Civ II Strategy Library and how many of that person are there. (A simple question)
Also- who was the first entitled Deity on apolyton?

                            --
If you can answer 2 of the above questions, I will allow that you MAY have been viewing the forums for about a year before.

You have a right to criticize anyone for 'contribuiting little to apolyton'- however, SINCE YOU HAVENT BEEN HERE VERY LONG you can't do that educatedly- any accusation you make is superflous.

                            remember Mr. Mantequilla and Jesse?
Sorry GP I'm not that old though I did frequent the Civ II Universe site from Dec 99- Feb 2000; and found the Apoly forums in March 2000- they were a different style then than they were in August 2000, when I finally registered- I couldn't even view threads unless I was registerd then- AH HA- Mr VETERAN- eliminator- that is where I get you- you couldn't see threads in early 2000

However, If you can prove me wrong- I will eat my words->

Nah that isn't true GP - I didn't do anything about the start date and frankly I don't really care about it. I can't remember when I first showed up here but it was well over 2 years ago.

I've lurked here from the beginning and downloaded your scenarios and maps

If you think this is newbie hell you should see civ3 strategies section at civfanatics (if the forums aren't still down)...

P.S I don't think many apolytoners play civ, civ2, smac or civ3 they merely come here and WHINE!
