Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

        • Point of fact is that wearing any colour other than black to an occasion such as this shows a marked lack of respect.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Yep, such as making a post consisting of " poop" in the Auschwitz memorial thread a couple of days ago.

Ming edited it out later, thereby saving you from any further embarrassment.

                • It's probably a simple mistake, but the Vice President of the USA, with a huge support staff behind him, shouldn't be making mistakes like this.

Probably? Do you think there's a chance it was deliberate?

                      • Why would Cheney diliberately snub his nose at an event like this? I realize the Bush Administration has a strong dislike for much of Europe's leadership, but this memorial had nothing to do with such things.

                        • That photo pretty much sums up the Bush Administration - they are ugly Americans, elected by ugly Americans.

I'm sure Cheney didn't mean to cause offense but he is an ignorant hick from South Dakota or some other God forsaken backwater. He didn't know any better.

I was staggered to learn recently that President Bush had never travelled outside the USA before being elected President. Christ on a bike - no wonder he struggles to understand the world around him.

As long as you remember that half of us didn't...

                              From his Whitehouse.gov biography:
Mr. Cheney was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 30, 1941 and grew up in Casper, Wyoming. He earned his bachelor's and master's of arts degrees from the University of Wyoming. His career in public service began in 1969 when he joined the Nixon Administration, serving in a number of positions at the Cost of Living Council, at the Office of Economic Opportunity, and within the White House.

Should be a requisite for becoming President. He is supposed to be our top diplomat afterall; the Secretary of State is #2 after him.

                              • I've seen planeloads of people like Cheney arrive in Europe with their plaid suits and lumber jackets.....

I mean, they are nice enough people but you wouldn't put them in charge of a superpower. The Bush administration is chock full of hicks and yockalls from God-knows-where, bible belt USA.
