Again, this is the same man that broke Abu Gharib and the My Lai Massacre in Vietnam.

In the case of Abu Gharib and with this case about Iran, it was people on the inside that came to him and needed an outlet to warn the public.
Ted, My Lai and Abu Gharib were both about criminal activity by individuals in violation of US Gov't policy. THIS is about treason. The people who leaked Top Secret information compromised an ongoing military operation, jeopardized the lives of our soldiers and undermined US security. I have no freakin' idea why Bush has not called out the FBI on this.

        • Oh, Ned

Given the administration has not nor would it even acknowledge such activities, it would not, could not 'call out the FBI', for that would be to accept that this was going on.

I'd almost be in favor of impeachment of Bush for not going after these anti-American, treasonous leakers.

As to Hersh, I'd lock him up now and throw away the key. Either that, or shoot him now as an enemy of the United States.

What the hell are pictures supposed to prove? Saddam had plenty of parades too.. but just because it has paint on it doesn't mean crap. Those things are piece of junk. Look at the MLRS system.. what a joke.. that looks like a early 1960s era weapon system.

Good point. The lack of public outrage may be linked to an effort to minimize the damage an admission my cause.

But still, this leaking of top secret information about an ongoing operation is treason.

Ah, No, it isn't. You need to check out the definition of treason.

                    • Well, GePap, even if it is not treason, it must be serious criminal violation of law. If Graner of Abu Grahib gets 10 years for abusing enemy prisoners, the people who did this should get at least 20 years. If any US soldier is captured or killed because of this leak, I would raise the penalty to death.

As to Hersh, he should be lynched.

Yes, the people who are working to stop the torture of prisoners (and thus, reduce hatred against American soldiers) should be executed, while grunts who torture prisoners should get 10 years, and a gov't that tortures prisoners should be re-elected.

                              • Regarding the merits of a strike like Hersh describes, there's broad support among the Iranian population, among conservatives and reformists alike, to get nuclear weapons. Any such attack would inevitably strengthen Khamenei's gov't. And if the attack escalates to outright war, it'd get pretty damn nasty for us (incidentally, there's an article describing a wargame against Iran in either the latest New Yorker or Atlantic Monthly - haven't had a chance to read it). Since they're far richer, more populous, have a more stable gov't, and have fewer sectarian tensions to exploit than 2003 Iraq, we probably wouldn't have British support this time, and our army is kind of occupied right now.
