  • The absence of asians in popular music

Asians are very hard to find in north american popular music. By "popular music", I mean "pop", "rock"and "rap". And there are no stars I can think of. Why is that?

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I think the brothers in the speed metal band Death Angel are filipino. But that's all I can think of.

Then there's Loudness. A heavy metal band from Japan. They sucked and had no commercial success in the U.S.

Death Angel had some cool songs. I recommend them. Their drummer was only 14 when their first album was released.

edit: turns out they weren't asian americans

I've heard "asian" music, I accidently spilled a drawer of silverware into the sink and on a hard tile floor.

hmm, turns out I may be wrong.

one website says they are hispanic. I could have swore I heard they were philipino. I may have to verify this.

technically they are americans as they come from the bay area metal scene.

In the UK asians seem to be producers/remixers more than artists (the stuff I listen to anyhow)
