I liked the scene where they had to jump to light but they had to leave half of the people behind and the cylons launched nukes on them.

      Very dramatic moment!

Good to see the show is finally coming to the US as well. This show is truely amazing and still gets better every week (too bad there are only 12 episodes ). It's rapidly setting a new standard for sci-fi television

Does the new show pick up where the old show left off or does it re-write the storyline?

It's not even a remake, it's a completely different show. It just shares the basic premise (ragtag fleet of Cylon survivors on the run, looking for a mythical Earth) and a few names (among which the title) with the original show.

You mean the TV series has already been aired in Europe? Where is it being produced? The cast are all Americans, so I had assumed that it was an American production.

                Just watched the whole movie.

I was a big doubter. I was a fan of the original, as cheesy as it was, and watched it in reruns all the time. I was expecting a train wreck.

Totally, 100%, pleasantly surprised. It was a great movie, though not without its warts. I find Zkribbler's criticism baffling--the writing was exceptional, certainly far superior to the original series, and easily the best writing for SciFi in recent memory (Farscape excluded). Seemed to me they avoided the cliches while adhering to familiar tropes of the genre (there is a difference).

I loved the grittiness. It felt very realistic, and the depiction of the Cylons was quite effective. The performance of the main Cylon woman is really impressive when you consider this is her first acting experience!

I'm looking forward to the series, but I don't know how often I'll get to watch it, considering the time slot.

Definitley, the grittiness of this series totally added to it more than anything

I didn't see much in the way of cheese in this movie at all.

Actually, I think the vast majority of the actors are British or Canadian. It's still a Hollywood production as one would expect, but the Sci-Fi Channel apparently didn't have the financial resources to pay for the production costs on their own, so they struck a deal with the British network Sky One: in exchange for paying a unknown but presumably significant portion of the production costs, Sky got premier rights. The first 11 episodes have already aired over the past 4 months in the UK (with an annoying prominently displayed 'Sky One Exclusive' logo in the corner of the screen). It hasn't aired anywhere else yet.

I hated the original movie and series but this looks to be much better. So long as they dont mention the colony names I dont have any bad flashbacks to the original. Boomer is a cylon, who'd've thunk it?

                            Nukes?
Sounds more realistic as in the original Series,
where the Cylons used Strafing Attacks to decimate the colonies.

Hope the series will get to germany soon

They do mention the colony names but really only to tell what had been hit or to ask if they had.

And that's just the mini. I think in the series so far a colony name has been mentioned only once or twice (just as background info, nothing remotely relevant to the plot).
