    I'm a big fan of the 401.

    Vancouver has nothing remotely like it. The biggest road in the GVA is the TransCanada Hwy, doesn't even go into the city, has a limit of 90 kph, and people actually obey it (for the most part).

      Not necessarily a bad thing. Those freeways are important too.

      Typical idiocy.

        If you go the speed limit on most parts of the 401 - you are dangerous because people do not expect slow movers (unless the whole road is backed up).

        Some years ago a guy got upset at getting a speeding ticket on the 401. He arranged with a friend to go exactly the speed limit (100km/h) side-by-side down the 401. They were given tickets for unsafe driving and obstructing traffic, IIRC.

              If we all decide not to obey the speed limits, THEY CAN'T FINE US ALL! I'm telling you guys this is the perfect plan.. just think about it!

                  should've fought them in court, but kudos for having balls to do that, anyway.

                      I got fined kr2800 this summer. That's the equivalent of two decent police radar detectors. See the dilemmas I have to deal with??

                      I haven't bought one though. I prefer respecting tha law

                        That's why I take the 407 from work (Warden) til the 401.

                        The route:

                        Warden (for a good 40 meters) -> 407 -> 401 -> 8 -> 86 -> King St -> Columbia St.

                            I think they did - I can't remember the outcome though.

                                It's a blessing, if it wasn't a toll road it'd be far busier, and far, far slower.

                                It runs virtually parallel to both the 401 and Highway 7 around Toronto, so it's not like it's the only choice.

                                It's just the far faster choice.
