Blame the people who wrote the plugin. Omniweb doesn't do this.
The problem is a Unix one, that's the protocol it uses. Omniweb probably just obscures it.

Does anyone know how to make Firefox search only your bookmarked RSS feeds?
I reckon it's possible, if someone makes the Search plugin for it.
You could just use Google Desktop Search, though, specific to the RSS cache.

Typical. I'll wait for Safari RSS.
As I often say, it takes Apple or Google to do something properly.

I'm seriously thinking about buying Omniweb. It is just about perfect. It runs rather slowly on my machine, so I think I'll wait until I get a new one.

Searching within files has been done long before Apple or Google have been around, buddy.
You seem to be under the impression that Firefox downloads the RSS content as well as the headlines. Firefox's RSS support just grabs the headlines, not the actual content. That's the nature of its support.
Sage is an extension that grabs the content.
If you want to use the full RSS aggregator, check out Thunderbird. Thunderbird's built-in RSS aggregator lets you search just your RSS feeds. Firefox's RSS support is in the form of Live Bookmarks only.
IMO, that's the proper way to do it. RSS content aggregation fits in nicer with the mail client than the web browser.

So has webmail, but it took Google to make a version that didn't make me vomit.
Question though, why would you want to restrict your search into RSS feeds?
If I have, say, 30 favourite feeds and I want to search within them. Feedster gives a heap of results that are from sites that I have no interest in.

All good. But it isn't a browser. I want my RSS feeds in a browser. I want to be able to sort results on the fly as well. Livebookmarks don't let you do that, nor it appears does Sage.
Safari RSS will.
Thunderbird looks pretty good though. If I keep this machine another year, I will probably use it as my permanent client.
I'm not claiming that Apple or Google do these things first; just that they do them properly. That means, in obviously useful and user friendly ways.

You can't drag and drop feeds from Firefox to Thunderbird.

<--- Quote by Former U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Thunderbird's not even 1.0 yet and you're already *****ing about it missing some features.
RSS support was added like a month ago to it...relax buddy.
I'm not sure why you want full RSS integration with the web browser, but I suppose that's your personal preference. Opera has had that crap for a while.
I have about 30 feeds at work that I access with Thunderbird, and I see no logical reason why its a requirement to be part of the browser.
When it's part of Thunderbird, I can have it notify me when a need post is detected, I can put them in virtual folders, I can manage them, etc. In fact, when you think about it, RSS content is a lot like...email...

That's why I love RSS in Opera. Since Opera has an email client too, RSS content is perfectly integrated into it.
The "IBM Stuff" is a virtual folder, which will aggregate all RSS content that mentions "IBM" at all.
Will Safari do that, too?
