    • Ned,

BS on the "no negative campaigning" aspect. When running as a challenger, you've gotta say you can do better than the incumbent. Inherent within that is that the incumbent isn't doing a good job.

      • @DanS: I don't know about the RCC, but here around heartbeat was the legal mark of life/death till quite recently. I would surprised if the RCC did not hold the same position at least until well into the 2nd half of the 20th C.

Arrian, when the economy is doing good and the challenger has to fight the war on terror just as much as the incumbent, I think the only way the challenger can win is to provide the people with a clear choice on other issues, such as health care and the social issues.

That is pretty much what Clinton advised, if you recall.

              • Personally, I think Kerry showed a lot of courage in first volunteering for, fighting in, and then returning and fighting against the Vietnam War.

Kerry didn't really volunteer for Vietnam. He joined the Naval Reserves...

"Brilliantly conceived" doesn't do this truly amazing thread justice.

A fine effort again, Horse. 500 posts of argument with hardly a finger lifted.
