No, it would not be alright. We want you to do the right thing for yourself, your family, and even total strangers, and do your part to get these creeps behind bars. We joke, poke, and carry on because we do care. Regardless of how we view each other, we find it intolerable when one of our own is put in harm's way through no fault of their own.

If you had picked a fight in a bar, that would have been different.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

To be honest this town has taken such a slide lately, I've been toying with the idea of carrying some kind of non-firearmlike weapon, like a knife or a baton of some description... I guess today has rekindled that idea. Anyone know what's legal in the UK, and what's effective?

      Steel toed boots perhaps?

So if you had had a sword now, you'd be spending the rest of your life in prison instead of whining about your bloody nose on an Internet forum, not going to the cops and not telling the truth to your family. So on the one hand, you find it so horrible that you think the guys who attacked you deserve to die, yet on the other hand, you don't think it's worth going to the cops for, or telling your family, not to mention you're apparently not that badly hurt anyway or you wouldn't be posting here... Way to go, Whaleboy!

It sucks badly to be beaten up and I wish you all the best, but get your act together! (or did they kick you in the head one too many times)

Ideally there would be no law against killing such people.

Like I said, I haven't decided one way or another, but consideration for them is not a part of it... I'm not inclined to make my life worse so they can get a slap on the wrist so it all hinges on what impact it has on my life. But like I also said I'd appreciate it if you guys leave me to make that decision and talk about something else. If you want to talk about it, fine, I can't stop you but I'll ignore it cos I don't need to the pressure right now, theres plenty of other stuff I have to deal with too and I just hope people would be understanding enough to respect that.

You made a thread about it, dude. Of course we're gonna talk about it (especially since many of us think you're reacting poorly).

            Anyways, sorry you got attacked...

Yeh I made a thread but I think it's poor taste to keep going on about it. You've all said what you have to say on the matter, no need to repeat yourself, it's my decision and you're not privy to everything I have to consider. I respect your views and that's what I've wanted to here, but there is a point where it becomes peer pressure.

So when I argue against the religionists I should try and conjure up the ghost of Ockham?

It should be mentioned that Ockham applied his razor to a vastly different dataset. Specifically:
                a) God created the Universe
                b) We don't know where the Universe came from

                His choice was A.

A few centuries later, the choices are:
                a) God created the Universe
                b) We know where the Universe came from

                Our choice is B.

                    • Might I recommend the Roman gladius for messy, short-range work? Easily concealed, yet lethal.

Yes, but when you have the creator on hand, surely it is common sense to consult him? Especially considering that the Mill Limit as it stands now has been "rebuilt" as it were since 15 months ago.

I was thinking along the lines of the good ol' rapier for appearances, or possibly a Samurai Wakizashi (a Katana would be overkill of course ). Still, good for chopping wood

                            • I still say use the gladius - much easier to conceal, much easier to use at short ranges (inside an opponent's reach), and lighter than a Samurai-type sword.
