A doctor not acting when someone is dying is called negligence, in most places.
Killing a living person is also called murder, in most cases. Best to throw your conventional logic out the window once you mire yourself in the abortion debate...

Not to save the person with the highest chance of survival. That is common practice. Generally, if the mother dies, the foetus has little chance. Given the choice to save one, you save the most viable one, which in almost all cases will be the mother, especially given that at that stage, the foetus is rarely viable.
Letting both die, or killing the one with the highest (and often only, at that stage, given complications) chance of survival, is negligence. Just wait until there's a civil suit of a doctor refusing to operate to save the life of the mother.

Define living.
(Maybe you can, but can the lawmakers?)
Is semen alive? For every conceived child, do we, men, commit a genocide? Where does the life start?
And who are you (not you, but "you") to impose your code of conduct on people?

Then get a new job. If you can't fulfil you're job, quit. Part of a pharmacists job is to give out drugs according to prescriptions. If they can't do that, they shouldn't be a pharmacist.
So a pharmacist is supposed to give out a drug that has no other purpose than to kill another person?
Heck, even guns are more restricted, and they can have uses apart from shooting people.
I do not question that a pharmacist ought to do what her profession asks her, but I insist that part of her profession is not to dispense harmful drugs without a good reason.
I don't believe that the reasons given for an abortion justify the dispensation of drugs to kill that person.

If the women would otherwise die, it's cures death. This bill allows them to not act even when the mothers life is in danger. A doctor not acting when someone is dying is called negligence, in most places.
Emergency 'contraception' is only useful in the very earliest stages of pregnancy. It is never needed to save the life of a mother. The only purpose of the drugs are to kill a young embryo in the womb before she develops further.

If the doctor has prescribed it, yes.

Really? How so? How are guns restricted?

But their job description does, and if the doctor prescribes something, they must fulfil it. That's part of their job.

I wasn't talking about emergency contraception, I was talking about a doctor refusing to give an abortion when the mother's life is in danger, as this law would allow.

I'll spare my own opinions here, but give a framework for deciding a given view.
There is a difference between a living human lifeform, a human being and a human person.
Lifeform is to be understood in the purely biological sense: living cells. A being is a being to others, traditionally that would rest upon the ability to communicate, though some might say the ability to be perceived and thus qualities of being ascribed by others upon one - sentience. A "person" is not dependent upon biology, it is someone with a consciousness that they know, a being unto oneself in the existential sense. The definition is an extention of Descartes famous "Cogito ergo Sum".
Sentience is insufficient to be a "person", just as biology is insufficient to be described as "being". Where one leads to the other is up for debate, furthermore, one needs to define murder as the killing of a "person" (which all will surely agree on), or also the killing of a "being". Work out where your definitions therein lie in a consistent manner and you shall find your position on abortion.

Is semen alive? For every conceived child, do we, men, commit a genocide? Where does the life start?
Actually, Drake said the child was a living person.
So it is very possible to have something living, like sperm, yet not a person like the unborn child.
The better question would be, how does one define what constitutes a person?
And who are you (not you, but "you") to impose your code of conduct on people?
Why are you insisting that the pharmacists ought to abide by a moral code not their own?

I'm not imposing my code of conduct on people; those advocating that pharmacists should be forced to do something they find morally unconscionable are...

BK - just because the executioner doesn't believe the convicted is guilty, doesn't mean he doesn't have to kill him.
Yes, but Pharmacists are not executioners.
