synth Diamonds are already almost perfect, and the only thing they need to be perfect is a change in the way they chrystalize, a certain small technological problem, that I am sure will be soon solved.

Then, one will be able to offer them on the market, with the same price as the the ones with the "real" diamonds do. They will offer a lot of them, and prices will fall.

Industrial diamonds ( made by a simpler process, and having a strong brown color,but just as strong),are already used in drills and instrumentation for the creation of machine parts, and tools.

Imagine diamond armor, and diamond bullets. All of these can be possible, and it can become reality quite soon.

It's already been solved. The only way the two types of diamonds can be told apart is that the new syntheics are flawless. Even the best natural stones have flaws.

When the patents on the technology expire in 17 years, the world will be flooded with cheap perfect diamonds of every color.
