                  Lee was an idiot who was buoyed by his subordinates. The Army of the Potomac was unfortunate to have a run of stupid commanding Generals. (But there were competant ones, like Hanc0ck, Sedgiwick, Chamberlain, Meade, etc. all over the place in the AotP)

                  As for Grant, Grant was a Tee-totaler during the war.

                          What else could he do? If it had worked, he would have won the battle.

                          In any case, Lee gave up after that one. It took four years for people like Haig to get the picture.
