You're being mendacious. Everyone knows the Spanish government fell because it lied about the bombing by blaiming it on ETA when it knew AQ was responsible. Saying otherwise is just partisan lying.

If the Conservatives hadn't lied, but instead told the truth from the beginning (without being forced by the Socialists), who knows. We can guess it would have been an even bigger defeat had the Socialists been the ones to break the news that the government was lying.

I hate to say it, but you're right...

The election would've been close barring the bombings. Like you said, PP idiocy cost them the election.

And people weren't really scared that I saw; Spaniards have been living with chronic terrorism for over 30 years in the form of ETA bombings and low intensity street violence.
