"[What's the point in claiming something if you're not going to back it up?]"

That was my original claim. Proven. QED.
You said, "We wanted Allawi. And we pressured Brahimi into going along with it." So your "addendum" claim does not supersede the "orignial" claim?

Allawi has 21% supported (only 3% strongly), and 61% opposed (a whopping 40% of it strongly). Those numbers aren't abysmal? And only two politicians in the poll have worse numbers (and both happen to be Kurds), most of them better, much better. Like the whole right side of the poll. Calling it something other than abysmal is inanity on your part.
Why don't you list a readable graphic or the numbers themselves? From a visual standpoint he doesn't stick out, and the only guy that does is Sistani and the person to the left of him.

As for the bad resolution, blame the CPA.
Well which one is it? You are flaming the CPA yet want to use their numbers as proof of...?

        None that bad.

But go ahead and list some examples, please.

HA HA you're only jealous for our most free press in the whole world

Teh rest of the world might come close when they stop having opinions of their own and stop using news as entertainment and stop the clear bias they all have. Al Jazeera
          Fox
CNN... tricky one.. I'd say that can continue.. BBC can continue too.. In fact, we should only have CNN and BBC, and the rest shoudl be banned, or they should have clear warning 'we are showing you entertainment, and 5% is news too'.

I know that you're just being an ass, but I'll do it anyway.

You said, "We wanted Allawi. And we pressured Brahimi into going along with it." So your "addendum" claim does not supersede the "orignial" claim?

We did want Allawi. There's no doubt about that. After Chalabi fell through, he was the administration's favorite. The CIA (he was their boy after all), State love him, etc.

As for the pressure, that's what the quote demonstrates. Again:
"Iraqi officials were later surprised at the massive pressure the Americans laid on Brahimi, and at his passive attitude toward the pressure."

Why don't you list a readable graphic or the numbers themselves? From a visual standpoint he doesn't stick out, and the only guy that does is Sistani and the person to the left of him.

Because you can do it just as easily as I could. Put them in a graphics program and zoom.

Christ, just stop your *****ing. It's the CPA's graphic. I'm not going to redo a three month old poll just so it could go into and out of your head.

Well which one is it? You are flaming the CPA yet want to use their numbers as proof of...?

Allawi's unpopularity. Their polling abilities have absolutely nothing to do with their web-mastering abilities.

It has everything to do with the topic.

Freedom of expression and freedom of the press are both Consitutional rights. It's a good parallel.

No it's not. If you think that banning a news agency from a country is comparable to banning religious garments from public schools, you need to take some medication.

While it may not be a human rights violation (in the strongest sense of the word), if the Ameriraqi government was really concerned about democracy they'd let all voices be heard.

I've had people I know killed and Al Jazeera could have stopped it but didn't because they wanted the story. That's right. A bus load of ten Iraqis who worked for a radio station in Baqubah got ambushed by insurgents who blocked the road with a car and then fired RPGs and machine guns at the bus killing and/or wounding eight out of the ten. Less then two minutes after the attack who should show up but Al Jazeera's camera men. The police or the Army hadn't even been informed but Al Jazeera just happens to have a full camera team with the equipment to broadcast live right on hand in Baqubah? That place is two and a half hours away from their nearest office (Baghdad). They didn't even try to help the wounded or the dying they just sat their and filled it for their live audience.

The fact is Al Jazeera has done this sort of thing several times before in Iraq. They work with the insurgents; the insurgents tell Al Jazeera where and when the attacks will take place and Al Jazeera gets to cover the event first. That means Al Jazeera gets a scope on the ratings but it also means that they know ahead of time about terrorist attacks but do nothing to save the innocent people who will be killed.

There was another case about a year ago which Donald Rumsfield made a big stink about. Apparently Al Jazeera broadcast a breaking news story about a bomb going off in Mosul only... the bomb hadn't gone off yet. It went off a little under an hour later. That's right; proof that Al Jazeera knew what was coming but didn't alert the authorities to a terrorist attack thus making them complicite in the murders of several dozen people.

I haven't even gotten into how some of their "news" people refer to the US as "the enemy" during their news programs. We're not even talking about editorials we're talking about their supposedly trust worthy and bias free news. Al Jazeera is an evil and twisted organization and hopefully it won't take people you know being murdered before you'll see that.
