If it was someone with some potential pull, like McCain, certainly. If it was just another frootloop exercise in personal expression, like the Libs or commies or greens, then I'd probably consider (a) brushing up on Arabic, (b) building a bunker in the woods, and (c) taking an extended vacation in Canada.

I figure it would be a lot tougher for Kerry to get actively out of line, since he'll be restrained by a Republican Congress, whereas the last thing the US needs is Bush to have pliant do-nothing Congress and the illusion of popular endorsement by getting elected.

      • If there is any legitimate complaint about the current Congress is that it has been way too liberal -- spending drunkingly on new programs and pork alike. (Where is Newt when you need him.) But this is a Republican Congress. I think this partially explains why Bush has not vetoed a single bill.

Kerry might help matters spending-wise if Congress remained Republican. However, Kerry's main objections to the Rebublican Congress is not that it spent too much, but that it spent too little -- to little on drug benefits and health care among other things.

        Ugh!

Which is why this is going to be the worst presidential election choice that I can remember.
