I don't know how many people have had both posting against them in a thread.

He (edit: molly) must know about it, otherwise he could (edit: not) crank out so detailed stuff (edit: even when much is quoted) in such a short time to a given topic. That's actually a strength.

Who'd win? Don't know, let's see if it happens We could arrange show debates

Should be a wise combination of several topics to make it harder

It would depend upon the topic being discused and a few other factors like the person's mood, if they were distracted, if they really cared about the topic, etc...

I know the ins and outs, thanks very much.

Now who was it who implied I was an encyclopaedia in a recent thread? Begins with a 'K' ends in an 'r', ten letters....

I don't expect people to take my word for anything- if I say, for instance, that the three magi are Parthian priests/astrologers, I should paste or link to information that supports this, and not hope that because I'm an all round nice guy you'll take it on trust.

More especially, since I'm an atheist, there'd be every reason to doubt my word.

Also, some of what I know is rather abstruse- spice shipments to Venice- well up on that, are you sonny jim?

Dutch and English conflicts in Indonesia in the 17th Century?

Similarly, if I didn't know anything about the Puritans I'd hardly be able to fish up primary sources with detailed quotes to support a wide ranging argument.

Nah. You're just sore 'cos I corrected you re: the difference between the curriculums in Aristotle's Lyceum and the Athenian Academy.

'whereas I don't recall Molly ever saying anything that could be shown to be wrong.'

Thnak you for the vote of confidence, but when I posted in a hurry a few days ago, I managed to slip up and get the Egyptian deity who masturbates the world into being wrong.

I just couldn't recall who it was, and thought, oh I'll go with Osiris.

                More fool me.

See, this is why you shouldn't start these kinds of threads chegitz.

                  This crap is too personal.

Why don't we start a "who's the bigger pr1ck, Ted Striker or Ming" thread.

How does that contradict what I just said at all? It's completely consistent.

More especially, since I'm an atheist, there'd be every reason to doubt my word.

You're argument are just generally less convincing, not least because you seem to take everything personally (see Elok's post "Bad molly! Bad!") and regularly resort to personal insults (like in virtually every argument you have with BK).

No argument is good enough to convince you.

Okay, topic for debate: the expansion and contraction of the Aden market in the period between the fall of the Mamelukes and the conquest by the Ottomans.
