Hate crimes do happen everywhere, true. Anti-Semitism in France is worse than what should be expected, however, and is steadily getting worse. It's extremely worrying.

Right. I don't know.. I think we should look at statistics, do some kind of research to the reasons.. for example, we should know about this other minority getting constantly to these kind of actions, my guess is they're just PUNKS, youngster groups who would be a problem in the streets no matter what they're up to. My guess is these are street PUNKS, whose victims they targeted to be Jews this time, however they failed in that. I'm certain they're not good law abiding citizens who picked up on their target because they want to beat and kill every Jew in France. Most likely they're Punks, who want to beat up people, and especially Jews.

The difference is, there is a problem even without the marking. It's ironic too, being minority themselves and not wanting to integrate to France. I'm sure they will be handled like PUNKS are, and cops or anyone else is not protecting these youngsters when it comes to authorities and officials.

Of course it's a problem.. but what are you going to do, there are lot of immigrants in France, and some of them are doing these things, obviously they follow the news and take the wrong action. But they're like neo nazis in here. They just hate everyone basically, even you, the majority, white man.

I bet all my money that these punks who did this are not first timers when it comes to braking the law. What should be expected in France and these crimes, I don't know, what do you expect? I don't see these kind of articles everyday, it's a big country. I tell you this much though, Anti-semitism, as condemnable it is, is far less of hate crimes that happens inside France and every single European nation. Yet, you and lot of people seem to be mostly concerned about this only. It's natural and good to be concerned about this, I'm concerned too, but I'd say the problem is far more wider than anti-semitism.

When we have organized attacks happening that are being protected by some authority figures, then we have a problem that is major ****ing concern. If not, we're just singling out one group getting attacks, when in reality everyone is under attack on wide and regular basis, for a variety of reasons, and the people that are involved attacking Jews are most likely involved in the wider problem, with all sorts of crimes and misbehaving.

But don't think me as a person who doesn't give a crap about the single incidents. If it was up to me, if I was the police, judge and executioner, I'd most likely baton the mofos to the ground and deport their ass where they came from the next day. And for the ones that are citizens or have lived a long time already, I'd baton them even harder and give maximum penalty and keep an eye on them later on. These kind of actions are absolutely unacceptable.

really, GePap, youre better than this post.

Of course homophobic and racist hatecrimes are terrible, as are antisemitic ones.

Clearly homophobia and racism are important problems in America. As antisemitism is in France.

The incidents referenced above led to soul searching in America, at least among the more thoughtful classes. And to a renewed focus on hate crimes here. I hope M. Chirac will lead France in soul searching wrt antisemitism.

I will not prejudge his efforts.

Sure it does. But I'm 100% sure the fact that no one had the courage to do so is not related to anti-semitism but lack of courage. And to be honest, when 6 agressive men walk in and make terror, I'm pretty sure, I'd duck and cover instead of heroically jump in. It's different when there's a single offender or when you feel there's something you can actually do, but in this case. This isn't good, but it's again unrelated to France and in this case also unrelated to anti-semitism or whatever, it's a matter of civil courage.
