I am not so sure that beautiful women get to pick and choose in quite the way suggested. Beauty can be intimidating and I suspect some beautiful women are rather lonely. I have certainly noticed that there are a disproportionate number of such women married to men who have two qualities - they look like toads and they have compensated by developing an overweaning confidence. Now maybe all these guys are about to turn into princes, or maybe there is some other reason beautiful women like toads but what I actually think is that the toad-like but very confidant guys are almost the only ones who approached the lovely women. The rest of us just assumed they were not for the likes of humble us.

It may also be worth saying that beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. The first girl friend I had at university I thought was very pretty. One or two friends agreed but a number of others thought she was positively plain.

So I say don't be put off by beauty. In a way you owe it to your fellow men to pay proper homage by at least asking a beautiful girl out. And if she is disdainful, well that should be easy to bear. A beutiful woman can do no wrong.

Lastly I will say this - the things that catch your eye when you first meet are somehow never the things that come to endear a woman to you if a relationship develops. I first noticed my wife's laugh, and I guess I always liked that. But after 11 years together, and for many of those years, it was her complexion which I thought a marvel.

If you go off someone I notice it is then sometimes exactly those things which did first catch your attention which come to grate upon you.

My friend went through a huge battle over the cat when he broke up with his fiancee of several years. It was very sad, that break up. Both have since married, and both have kids, and the kids are more adorable than the cat was.

He's, what, 19y/o?

I'm 34, and I remember quite unfondly of being 19, starting my Freshman year at Eastern Mich., and feeling like a complete dork incapable of being with anyone (and desperately alone because of it).

The best thing I did was simply to LET GO. When I learn to simply let go and enjoy life moment by moment with myself and friends, regardless of my bleak romantic prospects, there were women aplenty.

You're obviously quite intelligent and probably more attractive than you think. Enjoy the life you have, with all its quirks and challenges. It WILL get better. There is almost a natural law that suffering does not, and cannot, last forever . Anyway, that's my advice.

To you Pax it is creepy. It reminds me a bit of a slimy car salesman trying to as you put it "close the deal". Newsflash....while you might be getting the women in the club, trust me they all know what your doing and what your up to and believe me. And they do talk about you when you've moved on to your next conquest Guys that do that are a dime a dozen. And it's a very old rotuine as well as you come across as to well rehearsed. That's why it's creepy. To know that someone doesn't have enough confidence to initiate personal conversation without it sounding rehearsed.

Albieeeeee ~ Above all be yourself. Not the gansta rap crap, not the hard shell on the ouside, but yourself. Be Ramsey not Albert. It isn't important to impress them with your knowledge or intellect. What is important and will always...always impress a woman is your heart. If you are speaking to a woman your interested in as stated before find out what she is interested in. Nothing shows more interest to a woman then someone who cares about what she likes or cares about. But get through all the bull crap and the psudo physco crap and just talk normal. Not the stuff you spout here and on IM. And I'm not trying to come across mean but I've talked to you when you are talking normal and your really cool and you are sweet and nice and smart.

Everyone wants and needs to be loved. It will happen for you trust me. I does happen to everyone, but you have to have to have to have to be yourself!!! Not this image you've created. And the odds are, it won't be an average type of guy. Many guys and women fail because they set their goals too high... based solely on looks. And as anybody can tell you, looks is only part of the deal.

Granted, if a person's looks turn you off, I wouldn't recommend trying to start a relationship... But I will say, even an average looking girl could become much better in your mind if you hit it off and truely like each other.

Ming is totally right in this. I used to be the type that would only go after the pretty boys but they wind up being to high maintence. As well as they really weren't concerned with my interest and as I have said so many times on this forum beauty fades but ugly is forever. When you are sitting on your front porch with the person you've chosen and hair is gone, boobs are saging, teeth are gone and you can't get it up anymore without viagra.....you'd better be able to talk to them and enjoy their intellect and your common interest because beauty does fade.

The man I wound up marrying was my best friend for years and we have alot in common but it took 13 years for him to pull his head out of his a$$ and realize what a wonderful woman I was. And he has a bit of a belly, hair is going and he's getting those awful hairy ears but he's mine and I love him and I know that when I'm sitting on my front porch in years to come he will be there with me and we can talk and enjoy it. And I won't have to worry about my looks nor his.
