Liver is even worse, even the smell of the stuff makes me want to vomit

I love all that stuff. Black pudding is great with a fry up. And liver is really nice as long as it is not over cooked - it has to still be soft and squidgy in the middle to be nice.

I am rather partial to kidneys too. As James Joyce put it:

Kidneys are Bloom's favorite because they give "to his palate a fine tang of faintly scented urine".

And since I am currently in Scotland, I have to promote the humble haggis. Haggis is absolutely wonderful stuff. It goes nicely with a fry up too...

I'm almost afraid to ask what haggis is.

Haggis is quite nice. Sheep's organs (liver, lungs and heart iirc) wrapped up with onions and spices in a sheep's stomach.

Suet is usually sheep's kidney fat (you know how kidneys are packed in a special, dense layer of fat).

Can't stand black pud though, it just tastes like sickly ash to me, personally.

Black pudding - great stuff. But huge in calorie value - I understand it's of Viking origin ("blood sausages") and only to be eaten in small doses.

Unless you live inside the Arctic circle, of course.

                        • This whole conversation about blood pudding and haggis reminds me of what 6-12 month children will quite happily eat if left unattended.

huh? Am I the only one who finds the concept of 'rocky mountain oysters' a bit strange?

Are these really oysters? Are they really from the Rocky mountains?
