Pretty close. You could add white supremacist punks and fascist skinheads to that group, too, aka skrewdriver.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      Nazi punks, **** off.
I love the kennedy's they rule, but now they broke up, and sold out.
I want to form my own band called the Ted Kennedy's.

It sounds like Phillips is consistent, and so is **** kerry. They just aren't consistent with one another. But they do seem to practice what they preach.

Punk music blows and should be left to the losers on the left who love it so. They can have rap too.

              Punk Music:
              Cars
              Blondie
              Talking Heads
              The Ramones
              Suicide
              Television
              Nirvana
              Elvis Costello
              The Clash
              Billy Idol
              Joan Jett
              The Police

And so on. Punk is an attitude, not a style. DIY, baby, DIY.

i don't see the problem with someone who enjoys "punk" music voting for bush. besides, "punk" music has been bastardized into thousands of sub genres, none of which are what "punk" started out as. too many bands jump on the "punk bandwagon" these days,

They were one of the original bands that played at CBGBs. They opened for the Ramones at a regular gig.

                      edit: switched Ramones fo Television.

The early punks were all consistent that punk was an attitude and not a style.

New wave didn't exist yet. New wave split from punk later, just like electronica, goth, psychobilly, and a number of other musical genres. In 1976, it was all just punk, though Hilly Kristal did try to call the whole movement New Wave, that name didn't come to be associated with the particular style of music played by the Talking Heads until the 80s.

Punk music arose from a couple of sources. One, the degeneration of popular music into Carpenters-esque crap and rock into over-produced pompous mega stage productions. Two, in NYC, you only covers-bands could get a gig. The original punk music was nothing more than people writing and performing their own tunes, playnig at the one club that would allow them to do it, CBGBs. That's why such a disparate range of styles of music were gloomed together in one music movement. It was called punk because it was made by a bunch of punks.

Only after Malcom McLaren got his hands on it did it become what we today consider punk.

Ah yes... so everything was punk . Please. New Wave takes more from disco than it does The Clash.
