The only thing Kerry can save at this moment is an extreme good vice president or that Bush somehow self destructs. But it is very unlikely that Bush shall self destruct, his campain is so good at spin that even if he lost 50 troops/day he could use that to his advantage.
What really scares me is that Powell shall not do a second term, what hawk shall Bush use to replace Powel?
If the Democrats had managed to put up a decent candidate, I would probably be voting for him/her. Or rather, I'd be voting against Bush's lack of fiscal spending.

It's not too late everyone! We Europeans can still apply for a green card and vote Bush out!
This is exactly why Bush will win again, at least as long as France is in Europe. Americans will go to the polls and vote for the person that makes them feel best about America, and...it is not Kerry.
The political parties will have an impact, but its the independents who will put Bush back in office. Like it or not, the GDIs will make the difference, and independents are far more likely to swing conservative than liberal. If the Democrats had chosen a conservative Democrat, they might've had a chance.
Of course, I could be completely wrong.

REAGAN was charismatic? Are we talking about the sleepy guy who kept forgetting to keep that naughty CIA from selling weapons to radicals to support central American death squads? I know he was an ex-actor, but even Dubya appears grounded in an alternate reality closely resembling our own in many ways.
In another thread, Cal expressed agreement with something I said. Is this the end of the world?
Uh, unless you turned atheist or began opposing gay marriage, we agree on more than that...it was my impression that our main difference was that you're a 'choicer and a more scholastic Christian than myself. In terms of major disagreements, I mean. Temperamentally and such is a whole other story...

Yes. You are wrong. Despite the SUV-owning, medal-throwing crap ( ) the media keeps bandying around, they are still in a statistical dead heat with even Nader thrown in the mix.
There is a LOT going on right now. And even more so after June 30. It amazes that people think he's a fading candidate based the exaggeration of NON issues, like whether his family or he owns an SUV. This is ridiculous. People barely know the guy.

Exactly! Six months ain't gonna change this by much. Plus, most Americans are not liberal. Gore won a majority of the vote in 2000 by 200,000 votes, which is not a mandate by any stretch. Bush won 30 states to Gore's 20. Thank God for the Electoral College. The idea that folks in California, with out the Electoral College, would decide the election over the wishes of Americans in a majority of states makes me shudder.
The vast majority of Americans are doing pretty damn well. Iraq, like it or not, is an extension of the containment effort of radical Islamic Fundamentalism and to prevent a large portion of the world's oil supply from being controlled any longer by unstable leadership. Americans support this whole heartedly, maybe not most 18 - 22 year-olds, but they live in an illusory world.

Seems to have been an unpleasent consequence of the coronation the Democrats had for Kerry. This seems to have been a plus for Bush because it allows him the time needed to define Kerry for the voters before Kerry can do so.
